We sooo need a sticky....NCLEX test stopped at 75...I failed? I passed?

I don't want to sound uncaring but if I read one more of these posts about 75 questions, "I know I failed" and 3 days later...."I PASSED !!" I think I will lose it. Could we not put a sticky at the top of the NCLEX thread? "Read this if your test turned off at 75". It's going to drive me nuts!

Hey Dutchgirl, my NCLEX test stopped at "76" questions!

And I passed

(There, do you feel better now?)

Yes, THANKS ! and hey she cooks too !! My test turned off at 265...um I believe that's the whole test but at least I didn't run out of time....I passed!

My NCLEX-PN 31 years ago was 2 days long, paper and #2 pencil, fill in the dots, proctors watching my every move. I passed in the 92% percentile. They don't tell you that anymore but hey computer testing is worth not knowing how smart or how dumb you are.

Anyone else willing to admit to taking the dreaded 2 day NCLEX? Wasn't it 750 questions? or was it a million?

Before I became a nurse, I read all of Echo Heron's books, including her 1st one about nursing school. It went into detail about sitting for the boards. A whole weekend, all day, pencil to paper. Sounded horrible.

I do feel in lots of ways that the way we are tested "nowadays" is sort of cheating. We aren't really tested on our nursing knowledge. It is, in my opinion, "pick the least stupid answer" kind of questions. Drove me crazy in nursing school.

Also, I got in on a lottery . . .the 1st and last time the school did that. I also felt like I cheated then - my hard work meant nothing and it was up to the luck of the draw.

Ah well, water under the bridge. Thank God.

Does this sticky not help?

p.s. My Boards were 2 days long, 6 tests (but we only got 5 scores, no, of course they weren't "testing" the questions ), 2 hrs each, scantron. And 6 weeks waiting for results.

I'm with you on this one Dutchgirl!! And I'm a new grad (June '05). I took it in July, got 265 and passed also!! I too am a little sickened by those threads. It gets annoying after a while. You would think the sticky would help, but it's as if it doesn't even exist.

I feel for you who took the exam when it lasted 2 days, although after taking it in June, I was thinking I would've rather paper and pencil, just not 2 days long!!

To be fair, I've never even seen that sticky.

And I remember being new here and asking all kinds of questions that I can't help groaning at now.

We've all been there . .. . lost and needing encouragement.

Oh yes I forgot, 6 weeks to results which came in the mail.

No that sticky obviously doesn't help. It has to say 75 questions.

I think the title should be 75, 265, or any number in between!

Now that covers all bases.

I think you need to chill. This is a very real issue for a lot of people. It's practically a universal feeling to leave the test not knowing how you did, and like you failed. Most people pass which is why of course a few days later you read that they passed. What's wrong with that?

If you're weary of reading those threads and offering encouragement, then don't come to this board. The one who is "sickened" definately needs to not read this board.

Why be an old ogre about it? Let people express their fears, concerns and frustrations.

I think people in their hearts know the number of questions doesn't mean a thing, but it's easy to get hung up on it. Not that a sticky isn't a bad idea.

I have a strong opinion that the way they do NCLEX is very stress producing. I hate to pine for the old days, (six tests over two days), but back in a day when we all got the same number of questions at least we didn't have that worry. We still worried over the whether we passed or failed, but not the number of questions. I think everyone should get a set number of questions, such as 265 and leave it at that.
