waiting is killing me slowly

by raingel

hi, everyone. i'm feel so down lately after i took my nclex last march 1. until now i did not see my name on PA BON licensure verification. PA is not included on quick result. i think i failed. i had 75 questions and i felt 60% ok. i took the kaplan review with qbank and felt ready to take the board. unfortunately, the night before the board i cannot sleep and stay awake till morning. i took breakfast and redbull to keep me awake. i'm not a good test taker but i managed to finish nursing school without failing a semester. right now, i feel so stupid to choose the wrong answers. i still did not recieve anything from PA BON. i'm expecting a brown envelope so i would stop thinking about it and go on with my plan b. can you share your experience on waiting so long for your nclex result. i would really appreciate it. thanks guys. raingel

Last March 1st as in 2005, or last March first as in about 2 weeks ago??? I hoping you mean the 2 weeks ago March 1st..

Pennsylvania can post results in 2 days, 2 weeks, or a month later. It all depends on how busy they are at the time and how many people take the NCLEX. I've noticed that around certain times, such as graduations, they take longer to post all NCLEX results then they do at off times. I dont think calling them would help as I'm not sure they would tell you over the phone.

Nobody ever feels good about the NCLEX after they are through with it, and please remember that the number of questions you get dont mean a darn thing.

You shold go on the PA BON website and just keep looking til they post your name. Right now you should have a GN permit, do you? That will be listed on the website, and when you click on your name it will tell you active, meaning they have not yet 'graded' your NCLEX, or inactive, meaning that you did in fact fail your NCLEX.

If you failed dont worry about it. I dont know what you're plan B is, but you have just spent how much on nursing school ? There is no reason to move onto something else after you had one bad day taking a test. You just study hard once more, and retake the test.

Good Luck.

Hi Raingel. I know exactly how you feel. I took my NCLEX on March 1st too, and my state also does not subscribe to the quick results. So i was having to check my state BON website daily. I waited and waited checking everyday and then on the 7th day (last nite at 7:30to be exact) they posted the results. How it works is like this:

As someone else mentioned, if u have a temporary license issued to you you can check on your BON website, and see your name, social and expiration date of the permit. When the results have been posted, and you click on your permit status, it will say something about not recognizing your social in that particular database. That is when u know that the results are in. Thats when u should click on the Registered Nursing license verification and put your social in, if u see your name and an expiration date you know u passed, if that database does not recognize your social, then u did not pass.

I was concerned like you, wondering if the reason my name was not on the RN licensure database, meant that i had failed. But thats not true. As long as you can access your temp. permit on that website, the results are not in. When u no longer can, the moment of truth has arrived.

Good luck to you, and be encouraged. I was sure that i had failed with 160 questions, that i felt like I had guessed 90% on. By the grace of God, I passed, and you will too. Let us know the good news when u find out.

Hi brina. first of all congratulation. thank you for your concern. i lose hope already and don't have any interest in checking my name on the website. i am the kind of person that wants to know the truth right away so i could go on with my life but unfortunately, in this situation i don't have control. another thing that made it hard for me was that i did not apply for temporary permit as a GN. there is no way to find out my result except just to wait for the mail everyday hoping that my agony will be over. i'd been taking sleeping pill everynight so i could sleep. if i already know the truth, i will stop taking this pills and start praying, study harder and relax. Suzanne4 told me not to do anything yet til i get the result. i will follow every advise i will recieve. i will definitely let u know when i get the result. again, thank you and good luck on your orientation. raingel

I took mine on March 1st in CA. I have been under the covers trying to work out another plan in studying again and again and again. But no motivation here. The exam stopped at 200 and it freaked me out. A lot of priority questions, which gave me mixed feelings. It is so easy to tell you to hang in there, I should take my own advice. But good luck...
