valid ID for the nclex

i am planning to take the nclex rn on october.. i was just wondering about the valid ID they accept in test centers.. i have a state ID and passport but it is in my maiden name.. i am planning to send CA BRN a change of name form since i am already married and i used my husband's surname in my ssn.. should i get a new state ID? my current ID does not expire till next year.. i have a valid military ID though.. will they accept that? or should i just do the name change after the exam?

i was thinking to update CA BRN about my name change by submitting the applicant name change form.. i initially submitted my application without ssn because i haven't received it yet at that time.. i would like to update my file by adding the ssn.. so if i receive my ATT, it would be with my husband's surname.. and all my IDs are in my maiden name, except for the miltary ID.. would that be accepted? or should i delay the name change after the exam?

i have the same problem as yours . so i will taking my exam using my maiden name because the name on the att must match with the id. and someone told me here that after the exam i have to call the brn about my ssn and the change in name.

Would be better to inform A BRN on change of surname plus SSN otherwise you will not get a license issued. This is what it states on the NCSBN website on acceptable ID for within the US. Pearsonvue will issue another ATT with new surname, alternatively seeing as Military ID is acceptable use that then whilst waiting for results change paperwork

Acceptable Identification
The only acceptable forms of identification in test centers
in the United States* are:
• U.S. driver’s license (if expired, a renewal slip must
be presented in order to be admitted) (Department of
Motor Vehicle-issued)
• U.S. state identification (Department of Motor
Vehicle-issued)
• passport
• U.S. Military Identification

for me the problem is i dont have any valid id except for passport using my maiden name, since i go here in the us using fiance visa and i was not able to get state id before my I-94 expires. that's why i dont have any choice. i remembered silverdragon told me to inform the brn right away after i take the exam right? if im not mistaken

thanks for the information.. so i guess i would just submit my change of name to CA BRN since the military ID is acceptable after all..

aleena, do you have EAD? is that a valid ID for the exam (since it is also government issued)?

or are the IDs listed in the ncsbn site the only acceptable forms of identification? coz a friend of mine has the same situation as yours.. only have passport plus the EAD..

thanks silverdragon for the info and i checked the ncsbn website.. so i'll be answering my own query.. it says there that
"Only the identifications listed above will be accepted."
so i do not think the EAD will be accepted..
