uWorld for NCLEX prep, need advice.

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey everyone,

As stated in the title, I am currently using uWorld for NCLEX prep. Yesterday, I scheduled my NCLEX which is on January 23rd. I have been studying for about a week and by the time I take NCLEX I will have 3 weeks of studying done.

I am doing roughly 75-120 questions a day and reading the rationales of the ones I miss and the ones I get correct, but wasn't 100% sure of.

I am scoring generally in the 55-60% range with an occasional 70-75%. I do 20 questions at a time and I am currently sitting at the 58th percentile with the normal average being at the 48th percentile. I had a couple friends of mine tell me they were also scoring low arounds 50-60's and that uWorld considers that "good."

I am starting to stress because first off, I have never scored so low on any exam in nursing school. In fact, I am an A-B student (mainly A's) and graduated honors with a 3.75 GPA.

A lot of people stress me out when it comes to the NCLEX and of course like everyone else, I am very scared to fail.

My question to you all is, if you used uWorld, what percentages were you getting? What percentile rank were you in? Did you pass at your first attempt? and lastly, do you recommend uWorld for NCLEX prep?

Thank you in advance for anyone that answers. I am so stressed out and would love some reassurance.

That is also a very good score! I feel like you will be perfectly fine. Wishing you the best of luck as well.

Thats what everyone is saying so from now on, all I do is 75 questions. I try to do 75 twice a day, but sometimes I am busy and only do 75 total; however, I feel like I am increasing my score still.

Hi Alexx,

Just wanted to comment that a friend of mine took the NCLEX this past June and U World was the only source she used to prep for the NCLEX. She did two 75-question tests per day, 6 days a week for three weeks, and she passed with 75 questions. I graduated last month, but still waiting for my ATT. I am hoping to take my exam early to mid February and plan on prepping the same way my friend did, with the hope that it will work for me the way it did for her! Wishing you the best - it sounds like you're going to nail it!

Hey Alexx!

I recently passed my NCLEX exam and only used UWorld to study.

I studied VERY similar to how you are currently. I would do 20-25 questions at a time, but making sure to hit 75-150 per day. I completed the UWorld QBank and was scoring 60-80% on the QBank exams.

A week before the exam I took self assessment one and my chance of passing was "very high" scoring in the 86th percentile. I then took the second self assessment the day before the exam and this time was in the 97th percentile.

Overall, I think UWorld helped me pass tremendously. Every topic that was on my exam was covered in UWorld.

Goodluck to you beautiful!

Hi! I'm currently using UWorld with most 50-60%. On my first self assessment I got barely above for passing. Oops. Did you find the content was similar on the NCLEX as UWorld? I'm having the most trouble with the leadership/mgmt and Peds questions. Did you have a lot of Peds and maternity questions? I'm just worried that there's is a lot of content not on UWorld that will be on NCLEX. Btw, did you study by systems? Thanks for your response!

I have not taken it yet, once I do, I will update this post! Good luck girl, study some more and try another assessment babe!

I only paid for one assessment, but I did get in the 91st percentile with "very high" chance of passing. Do you think I should buy another assessment? They're pricey so I kinda don't want to, but what is your opinion? I just want to pass!

I don't think you need it. Most likely you'll pass regardless.

I am about 600 questions in total right now and I have noticed that I have been doing much better than I was when I originally started.

Also, I have not redone any questions that I have gotten wrong yet, I have only been doing questions that are unused. I hear if you do the ones you got wrong for a second time it ups your percentage, but I am trying to get a real percentage of how I am doing versus redoing questions I got wrong which will up my percentage because I will now get them correct.

My goal is to finish all the questions before the exam which is in 2 weeks!! Also on Jan 23rd, like you!! What a coincidence. I am so stressed about this exam, as I'm sure a lot of people are. Did you try the PVT test after taking it?

I know what you mean. It'll affect the overall percentage *only* if you run an exam that includes old questions that you already did.

What I did was marked the questions, and do the questions that were marked. It wasn't officially an exam so it never counted toward my overall percentage.

I also wouldn't do it if it would artificially increase my percentage.
