Use of the whiteboard on the NCLEX

Once you get into the room and you get that whiteboard thing, you can write anything you want on it right?

When I went in for my NCLEX I had to read this list of rules before I even had my picture or fingerprint done. Seems to me like one of the rules was that you can't write anything on the board until you actually start the test. I believe it also said that you can't erase the board but have to raise your hand and request a new one. I may be wrong here, was totally stressed...... However, I used less than a 2" space on my white board.....1 math problem. There may be something on the pearson website about this.

Yes you may write whatever you want on the whiteboard. Friends tell me to write the lab values so I don't forget. That is what I am going to do. Write the dev. stages, lab values, etc.....only thing is once you write you can't erase. If you need another one, they will provide it for you. I know this cuz I took NCLEX in july but unfortunately I failed.

I think you may have to wait until the test begins...can't remember. I know you do have to raise your hand for it to be erased. I did not write anything on mine. Just try to relax...Good luck

They aren't going to assume I'm cheating somehow if I start writing lab values or something right when I get in there?? I know they are super strict at those Pearson centers and the last thing I want is one of them to think I'm trying to cheat somehow. It seems logical though that once you get in there you should be able to write anything you want on those things, am I wrong??

I wrote my lab values down soon as I got stationed at my computer. I also wrote other little tips to remember such as "remember ABC's, Maslow, physical before psychosocial etc. I suggest you write down values that you have the most trouble remembering. It prove to be useful to me.

I agree.. I do think you're 'supposed' to wait until the test begins to write anything down. But as soon as I got seated... I wrote on mine. They give it to you clean.. so I"m not really sure why there would be any confusion to whether you were cheating or not? Plus theres a camera in each cube... so you're 'being watched.' But I wrote a bible verse down to keep me sane and reminding me that I CAN pass this thing! Good Luck!

I almost forgot everything before I took the N-clex, but wrote alot of stuff on the board, but start the test, THEN write on the boards

I took the test 2nd August this year. You can write what you want BUT YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOU BEGIN. You can't erase -you have to ask for another board if yours is full.

I wrote in big capital letters "I can do this" at the top of my board once I began. Then I drew the Maslow table, wrote "ABC'S" , "assess, assess, assess," & last "if I could only do one thing for my patient what would that be...."

I passed in 75.
