Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Is it true that if you have bad credit you will not be able to take the NCLEX? A nurse faculty had told a student that they have had students who were unable to take the NCLEX because of that.

Not in the state of Georgia it is not.

Hello. I'm from Texas. I just wanted to let you know that I had to let a car go back a couple of years ago and I was able to take my nclex-pn last year. My credit is not the best, but since I'm working now, I'm trying to fix it. Ro

The only thing concerning bad credit and nursing licensure concerns student loan default [sorry, forgot about arrears in child support also]. Many states will not grant a nursing license if you have a default judgement on your student loan. If the application for the license also involves applying for the NCLEX exam, then there may be a problem. Plain old bad credit does not stop you from taking the NCLEX.

That teacher has incorrect information. One is not related to the other. Many that take the NCLEX exam do not even have a SSN#.

And sorry, they have never had students no being able to take an exam because of that. And to top it off, they are not notified if a student cannot sit for the exam for whatever reason. That is personal info between the state and the student. Not for the instructor to share with others.

I have NEVER heard of such thing myself, but I have heard that passing bad checks can be problematic. Passing bad checks can lead to bad credit.

I can't see how this would be a problem. If they BON and Pearson got their money, if the check or credit card cleared, then, it should not be an issue to them. Now, the landlord and other creditors is another story...
