Took NCLEX today 10/02/2012

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone!

I finally took the NCLEX today. When I got back home, I rushed to the computer to check PVT. I got the good pop-up, it says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time."

This is my first exam. I wanna know if there was actually a case where you get the good pop-up and failed. I'm sorry to ask despite the many people saying it's accurate. I just don't wanna have a false reassurance thinking I passed but actually failed??? I'm so nervous right now...I can't explain how I feel.

(I got 21 SATA, 5 pictures, 5 drag and drop, and 1 exhibit. I had around 115 questions.)

I'm not totally sure on the number cause when it shut off I wasn't looking but it was less then 200 but more than 150. I think maybe like 175! Those darn SATA's are a killer and I am not good at those at all. Drugs I have never heard of before. I still had 2 hours left to go, that I do no, LOL.
hmmm that's a lot of questions. but you passed so that's what matters. I'm so nervous I find out tomorrow.
Congratulation ... Can you give hints like what kind of SATA , and grad drop ,pic question you got ... Thank you

Most of the SATAs where from Med-surg. Like, which intervention should you include in the care plan, or which s/s should you watch out for, or it's indicative of this disease if you're able to assess which s/s.. The drag and drop are nursing procedures. And the exhibit is like a client's medical record that you have to look at, and select the correct answers that is appropriate for the client. Don't worry, i'll post my story on this site once I'm able to get my quick results.

I didn't get any Math questions, but I did get ECG strips (around 4). The most challenging part was meds cause I got a ton, more than 30. And meds is my worst nightmare, I'm so bad at meds. I had 5 drag and drop of procedures, and there were steps that I didn't know existed, I had no clue where to put them. I actually counted the number of alternative questions I got by writing it in the sheet that was provided. Hence I was able to count all the SATAs, drag and drop, etc. I didn't stop at 75. I was a little sad when it didn't. hehe, but I keep telling myself it's okay cause I'm near passing. From that time on, I stopped looking at the number of items, and conditioned myself in taking 265. I told myself "It's okay, I can do 265". A few minutes later, it stopped. And like Tanacious said, when I didn't expect it, it stopped. I don't even know how many questions I got. I'm just guesstimating it to be around 100-115. I'm not really sure.
Yeah I was ready to get 265 but in the back of my head I wish I stop at 75. it really did. Oooh yeah I had one ECG strip it was so random and I'm sure I got that wrong. plus I had few drag and drops and couple of exhibits and lots of prioritization and satas. all these in 75 questions. no math. I'm scared
Oh I see. I was glad it stopped at 75 but same time I was like can I get few more questions?

Did you try the PVT to see what pop up you get? 175 isn't a lot compared to 265 and even that's not a lot. I was ready to go the distance if need be. Time went by fast and once the CAT determines your ability it shuts off so that can be anywhere btwn 75 and 264.

No i havent done the trick, i heard it is unreliable. Even though a lot says it's reliable. Im just gonna wait, like what the Kaplan teacher said. Just wait for the real deal.

I'm a bit scared now, even though I left the test center confident. :-S

Yeah, me too, I was hoping it would stop at 75, but oh well it doesn't matter as long as you pass. The first 20 questions I find them real easy. But after that, I was guessing most of the questions. And when it shut off I was certain I failed. There's no way I passed that. The moment I got out of the testing center, I told my husband I need to start reviewing again. And when I got home, I checked PVT right away, and got the good pop-up. I don't know how to describe how I felt. I was scared, sad, happy, relieved, anxious, hopeful.. I don't honestly know how to describe it. I'm just hoping PVT is accurate. I don't wanna go through that again.

@tanacious.. I know what you mean. I have taken a different nursing boards before (in a different country), and that was tough. It was a 2 day-long exam with 500 questions. I told myself that I was able to do 500 before, there's no reason why I couldn't do 265. I'm ready to go the distance too, if that's what it takes.

Good luck to all of us, and I hope we all pass...

I totally understand you feelings I felt the same way. I'm pretty sure the pvt is accurate there's too many people that says it works and statistically speaking if you got the good pop up based on numbers you are probably a RN :)

I hope we all pass. all this hard work hopefully will be rewarded...

Amen, I hope so too. We got this! I know I second guess myself a lot and get in trouble doing that.

Double post, sorry!

LOL you remind me of me last week when I took NCLEX!!! I walked out with 77 questions, did the pop up and was convinced it was an error when I got the good pop up. I convinced myself maybe it was too soon, or that I was supposed to answer all yes or all no the questions when registering again, etc. You passed!!! Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
