by 123_y_321 Sep 14, '12I took the test today at 8:00AM. This is my second time. It cut me off at question 75th. I was very sure I was failed. Because noway on earth that I could pass it, I guessed every questions. I was prepared myself for the third time; however, I went home and did the PVT. I got the "good" pop up. Thanks God, Thanks Danna and very one who help me through this.

- Sep 14, '12 by 123_y_321Thanks guys! Here is how I prepare for NCLEX RN
First, I want you to know that you can do it because even me can do it. I am not a native English speaker. I have been spoken English for about 7 yrs even so learning nursing is like a totally a new foreign language. I struggled a lots in classes, in clinical, communication with pt, culture diversity.... And all I could think of is making that C to pass.
Second, my first NCLEX was unsuccessful but I have never giving up on my dream. However, I did not know what to do after the first fail. I used ATI, Kaplan at this time. I scored high on the last 2 trainers of Kaplan but still fail. So I know know kaplan was not for me. So the second time I want to try something else. Hurst caught in my eye. I download Hurst's review videos from third party. I use them for my main content. I make sure I know everything in Hurst package word by word (able to rationalize S&S; why this disorder has this Sign...for example, Addison's disease has hypotension why? Because they have low steroid (aldosterone) this steroid helps your body retain H2O and Na so if u dont have enough you cant retain H2O and NA => hypotesion).
* when I close my eye, I can lecture that specific topic no problem.
* I do flash cards for infection control (work sheet are from Hurst also).
* For drugs, I use "The Rn Course Book" by Kaplan.
One of the reasons, I think I did not do right when I took my first NCLEX was I did alot of questions from many books that I can get my hand on. I dont think it was a right way. The important point is not answering many questions but to understand WHY you chose this answer over others. Hope this help.slaughtergryl and AspiringRN2b like this. - Sep 15, '12 by emaRNI took Nclex on september 14. The computer cut me off at question 75. I was paralysis for 10 whole minutes until one of the employees pat me on my shoulder and instructed me the leave. I felt horrible. After I got home, I want to login in to Pearson website to try the Pearson trick, but at the same time I don't want to because of the fear of failure. I literally completed the registration then closed my window for 5 times. lol!!! Finally I bough on the courage and pressed submit button and I got the GOOD POP!!! I was so thrill. I scream on top of my lung. It was loud. My mom came to my room though there was something wrong. lol!! Anyway, Congratulation to you!!!! Hard work definitely paid off.
