:wavey: After a long long summer of studying things have finally come together. I took the boards in July and failed. I went right back to the books. Put my all into the beast. I retested on... Read More

For the teenager with singed eye brow, look out for airway with that, and according to kaplan, it is normal for a babies fontanel to bulge when they cry, all the best to you. Someone correct me if am wrong.
Yes I agree with you. From what I learned in Kaplan, it is normal for babies to have bulging fontanel when they cry. It wouldn't be a priority.

Congratulations RN I also took it last month and failed. I'm taking it again next month and I hope to be joining you in the "pass" mode. What did you do differently this time compared to the first time? I'm trying Suzanne's plan using Saunder's Comprehensive Review.
I was much more focused this time. After graduation we did a week long review with a manual. I went through that again on my own and did a ton of questions.

This time I pulled out my Saunders and started reveiwing content and answering the questions. I then paid for the kaplan question bank and absolutely loved that. Also did the kaplan cd-question trainer. I did about 150-200 questions a day for a few weeks.

But I really had to change my attitude. I went in the first time like a deer in headlights. This time I went in telling myself not to be scared--I can do this.

I also went back to the person that did our review and did a retakers seminar. He really reinforced techniques for answering questions, priorities and so on. He did a wonderful job.

I stopped doing anything that had to do with NCLEX two days before and tried to relax. Easier said than done.

Congratulations, Chiefy!! Sounds like you followed a really great plan there and you have the results to show for it!

Really good advice: stop studying for 24-48 hours before the exam. It worked for me at finals.

Please please do tell her. Failing was not in any of our plans. But it happens. I moped for a good while--but life has to go on. Nobody ever talks about failing. And it doesn't help when people say you'll do better next time. We need this license in order to practice and most of us want it right now. The waiting to feel comfortable to retest is a killer.

Just be there for her. Through my failure I gained a very good friend whom is a nurse that I cherish. She will be my mentor forever.

I emailed the person that did our review. He asked that after we did the retakers seminar that we stay in contact with him until we pass. If we failed 2nd time around you can still go back and work with him.

But he wrote that he was in Concord, NH the day I tested. He was on the golf course sending me good vibes. It was such a beautiful day. After my test I did some Christmas shopping in the downtown. Very nice downtown!

Thanks everyone! And good luck to all that are testing in the upcoming days, weeks, months!

Chiefy! Congratulations! I have been away for a few days and am just catching up on the boards. I agree with you in that the 2nd time I tested, I had a different point of view mentally. That is such a big part of the exam. You just need to tell yourself you can do it and you can!

    Congratulations again!
