Test fatigue?

by lisamc1 Premium Member

I just took the Pre-Nclex (ADC-CAT) and I did very well. The gentleman who talked to me afterwards showed me that the degree of difficulty on my questions were very high and that I was given a "personal ability" at 99% and high probability of passing the N-Clex. However, I missed 7 or 8 questions in a row right in the middle of the exam. He called this test fatigue and suggested that I get up and take a break right around 30-35 questions when I take the NClex. Has anyone else had to take a break? Did you find it helped a lot? Were there others getting up for breaks? I'm a bit nervous about doing it, but then again, he's right. I started reading the question over and over again and had no clue what it was saying, so a break seems necessary. I'm just worrying and fretting over this whole thing now. It's so close to graduation and all I can think of passing this darn NClex! Argh!

We had Arnett's pre-CAT in April, and the man studying my results told me the same thing. He suggested that I take breaks after 30-35 questions. When I took my NCLEX last week, I did just that. When I got to question 30 & again at question 60, I made myself stop, close my eyes, and relax. (I didn't get up and walk around b/c it's a pain in the neck to leave the testing room, but I felt like closing my eyes and distancing myself from the test was enough for me.) It worked--my computer shut off at 75, and I found out on Sat that I passed. I would HIGHLY recommend doing as he says.
Good Luck!!!

I took the hurst review course and man that did the review told us to take breaks frequently during the NCLEX he said about every hour (not sure about that) but they definitely said to take breaks so I'm sure it would be good I don't think it could really hurt!
