Patterns..it's just like with any standardized test, the more you practice the more you see a certain similarity in the type of question they ask and the type of answer they're looking for. Take a look at the test taking strategies from you NCLEX preparation books (Saunders is FANTASTIC!)

I knew someone who had to take it a second time. This person said the first time he took it he studied content, the second just practice questions.

Personally I am not a great standardized taker, but I did well in school. So focus on the areas you are least comfortable with. Refresh over all the content and do as many practice problems as possible from different sources if you're able (check out from the library) and take the test as if it's test day.

Best thing you can do is to not freak out! Just relax and know that you are an RN...your positive energy will care for the rest ~ Hope this helps!

We need to study harder and read forums like these, this is really a great site. Infection control is really big in nclex test i got more than 10 infection control q's most are sata and about 5 math that needs conversions like ounce-ml, grains-mg, kg-lbs etc.. for infection control i found these 2 sites that are really helpful thanks to some of the members here for posting it. goodluck on your next test. btw common disease in nclex coz most of my friends got it too are cushing, addisons, reynauds, rotavirus, thyroid storm/crisis, diabetes, nephrotic syndrome, bunch of delegations and mostly prioritization.

Im in the samw boat as you, only difference is that i failed my nclex lvn, and the same as you i have a job opening lined up for me all i need is the paper saying i passed! i felt so devestated and still do bt i cant cry over it forever i have another chance and im going to go for it. Im starting to study like nothing else to do bc i need this so bad its a lie changing test!

Thanks everyone for all their wonderful suggestions!! I'm considering on purchasing the 3 week course for NBSCN, if I knew for a fact that their questions were very similar to NCLEX. Kaplan's questions are close, to me Saunders is ok, but mostly knowledge questions. I don't know, does anyone else have an opinion about NBSCN? Also, anyone who has taken the NCLEX, pass or fail have alot of questions concerning abnormal vs. normal labs??
