the California NCLEX is no different then the NCLEX for any other state. Its a national test and its pretty much the same in whichever state you take it. No state is harder or easier to take the NCLEX in.

As for areas to focus on- this varies greatly between each test taker and their abilities. The NCLEX is a computer adaptive test, so if you answer wrong it will give you an easier question the next time and vice versa. No 2 tests are alike and they are each 'personalized' to that specific test taker.

The best thing to do is get a NCLEX review book and to study all needed areas. You will get questions on med surg, dosage calcs, psych, ortho, OB, peds, check all that apply questions, etc. The test includes a wide variety of items.
Good luck studying and with your test!

Well said, Meghan!

You can download a test plan for free from www.ncsbn.org
that will give you the types of things you will be tested on.
