Taking 3rd NCLEX 9/15/14

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi. I have finally decided to join allnurses. I have read many and many other nurses just like me who have not been successful on the boards yet. I graduated December 2013 where I made my first mistake of taking a break after school and not start studying until March. I took the first boards May 2014. Failed. I studied using ATI and had a 68% passing rate and wanted to take it anyways. I took it again in July 2014. Failed. This time I believe my passing rate dropped a little lower with ATI, I also read the Kaplan book and did those questions. I felt that ATI did not help me, nor did the Kaplan book. I now paid for NCLEX for the third time. Also I paid $100 for an 8 week NCSBN review. It is overload information. I was reading everything and then decided maybe I should just take a ton of questions.....I do not know, I am working full time as a nurse...just not licenesed yet :/. I also just signed up for my BSN program that starts 9/2/14. I am feeling very overwhelmed. I decided to make an account on allnurses for some support and some advice. Not everyone understands what we have to go through, but everyone here does. If anyone has an advice let me know, I just do not know what I am doing wrong. If I fail the boards again it will be impossible to study for school and the NCLEX at the same time as working full time. It has been almost a year since I have graduated from RN school.

Thank you.

So I empathize with you. I graduated on June 12th, took it June 26th got 265 and failed.

Waited exactly 45 days, took it and was out in 75 questions within 45 minutes. Just got hired today

at a major hospital. Listen, you really need to sit back and analyze how you approach this material.

Look at the PCR- are you near passing or passing in all areas?

Listen I know the road seems long and rough, but you need to go back to the drawing board.

If you need content go back through the Saunders and then use questions to re-validate what you've read.

Then use Kaplan Q-Bank for a challenge. You really have to approach that exam like your taking a Kaplan test. I swear, I took

the fear out of it.

Sorry for the format!

Thank you so much Murse1919

YourHero I was near passing in every category both times!! :(

I am waiting for PDA by La Charity in the mail. Everyone swears by it.. hopefully it can help me! I do not think it is the content I think it is the way I answer questions.

If you were near passing in all categories, you need strategies, to help you think critically. That's my situation as well. I got the Kaplan strategy book and Im also watching videos on YouTube. I haven't set a date to retake.
