I would say that studying for the NCLEX is hard, there are tons of books out there, each one claims to be the best to prepare you blah....blah.... I just took mine last month. I used ATI and some Saunders both book and the CD. Although I liked the ATI better it is only because it had much more critical thinking questions and I think that is exactely what the NCLEX is testing you on. There are always the basics that you need to know as a nurse such as lab values, normal vitals etc, but going beyond that and combinding your basic knowledge and critical thinking skills is the key to the NCLEX. I don't think there was one question that I didnt have to go back in my mind to A&P or nutrition or growth and development and actually really think about the basic structure and function of the body AND mind. If you can do that you can actually figure out the best answer to the question.
