Study schedule for someone who has a family

For those of us who have families and can't devote 5hrs/day 6days/wk, what kind of study schedule have you been using? And for those that passed what did you use? Thx!

Very good question. I'm in the same predicament. I usually get in a few hours in the early morning and 1-2 more after everyone in my house goes to bed. But it never seems like enough.

Very good question! Im not there yet, but will be in less than a year...and with 4 kids, there is NO way I could ever study that much.

Hello,

I understand how difficult it must be to study for long hours, especially with having to take care of your kids. My advice is to try to study really early in the morning, from like 5 to 7am or if your not a morning person you have to integrate your studies with your daily tasks as a mom or dad. Invest in an iPod or iPad, do q bank questions if you have them, jot a list of content to review when you have time. If you don't have Kaplan q bank questions, there are so many free apps, and websites that have nclex practice material. Best of luck!

Hey!

I am a full-time student with 2 small kids. Also, I'm an army wife so the hubby comes and goes. This is what my schedule looks like:

5:30am - wake up, coffee, some house work, eat something

6:15 - wake daughter up so she can get ready for school (she is 5 so still needs some help)

6:30 - wake son up and get him dressed

6:50 - leave house and drop offs. Son to daycare, daughter to school. I try to get them a snack when they first wake up and they have breakfast at school. Also, I lay out all clothes and backpacks the night before.

7:30 - I arrive on campus and hit the gym

8:15-830 - I jump in the shower (locker room) and get ready for class at 9. This time varies a little bc I do not have the same classes everyday. When I have more time, I fit in some study time.

Then, I do class, lunch

Usually from 1-3 I am in the library studying.

3pm - drive to pick kids up and I am home with them by 4 (I live 30 mins away from campus)

4-7 prepare and eat dinner. Sometime we will do a picnic and I try to take them to the park... Even if it is for 20 minutes.

7:30 baths

8pm kids' bedtime

8-9 I relax or do whatever house work needs to be done

9pm I'm in bed.

Now, when I have a test coming up I will usually study in the morning and at night. I also study while at the gym. It helps if I have a friend work out with me and quiz me. We take turns of course :) Good luck to you!!!

No it doesn't and that's whats freakin me out! I'm still waiting for the wonderful woman at the State to give me my number to sign up for the test. I did Hurst review and loved it and I am reviewing their core material and doing Lippincott Q&A from 9 to about 1 then do stuff around town, pick up the little one from school, blah blah blah, its 8-9p and I'm exhausted. I avg 125q/day but it doesn't seem enough. Ughh!
