the dreaded SATA. It seems like everyone I talk to is getting a ton of them on the boards! they are so hard b/c you have to get all parts right to get the question right. yikes! Any tips/advice is appreciated!! good luck to everyone!

I took it today at 0800 and I got all 265 questions and I had at least 50 SATA questions and YES they were hard!

I took it yesterday at 1400. I got 75 questions, but I had 15 SATAs by question 45 and 17 total. Twice I got 2 SATAs back to back. I was freaking out. I can't say whether I answered any question right or wrong, but the SATAs!! YIKES!

My advice....go through each option applying it to what the question asks. If any word in the option is wrong (or opposite), or doesn't even apply to the question..don't mark it. Sorry, but that's the best advice I can give seeing as how I feel like I incorrectly answered 75 questions.

I hope you pass, I would tell you not to stress, but you'll do it anyway. You may need to talk yourself down during the entire test, not just the SATAs, so just focus on one question at a time and try to think positive, even through the negative thoughts that will race through your mind during the test and afterwards.

I'm still wringing my hands and it's been 28 hours after my test. Just be confident in the knowledge you have and do your best.

1rarejewel,

you are very right about my stress level! i'm trying to only think positive thoughts for the next week. thanks for the advice with the SATA!

I don't know when your test is next week but you should be able to finish the first 18 chapters which is half of the book. It may prove to be just what you need. Each chapter is made up of about 25 questions give or take and they are mainly all SATA. The full rationales are printed in the back. I marked the ones that I got wrong and reviewed only the ones that I got wrong when it got closer to my test date. I took my test today and if I passed (I got the good pop up) I have to give most of the credit to this book.

Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination by Linda LaCharity PhD RN, Candice K. Kumagai RN MSN, and Barbara Bartz RN MN CCRN (Paperback - Jan. 27, 2010)

Whoever came up with the idea for SATA questions and those who approved it are all evil.

Birdie22....you're welcome, just doing the little I can to reassure others.

Mommycakers...I used that book too, and the older version.

Caliotter....I agree.

I got 24 SATA during my boards and I only had 75 questions! And yes I counted like a total loser, but I wanted to see the percentage! I found that while I really hated them, I also was happy to see them as I continued the test because I felt it meant I was doing well.

With SATA it is best to just take each statement separately and not over think them! Good luck!
