Retaking Nclex 2 years after graduation?

You really need to contact the BON you applied to initially and ask them

I know some people on here posted that they are taking the nclex after 20 years

I graduated with my BSN in 2007 and now live in MD. I still haven't taken the NCLEX. Life just happens sometimes and we end up taking the longer path to get to our goals. But when you get there you'll have a greater appreciation for what you have accomplished and where you've been. For me it was a tragedy that hit our family in 2007. Our six month old was beaten while at his babysitters and left with a TBI. I've learned more about the dynamics medicine in the past three years then I ever learned in school.

So, to answer your question. 1. Take a deep breath and set a goal. 2. Contact your local BON and apply to sit on the boards. 3. Know you're not alone. 4. When you pass the NCLEX, celebrate BIG.

Sorry to hear such a horrible thing happened to your little one! I bet that taking the NCLEX is the last thing on your mind with all that you've gone thru. Hope you haven't give up on taking the test though, praying for you and family. :heartbeat

** To brainfried: if your calling is to become a nurse and you ignore it, you're never going to get rid of that inner voice that will keep reminding you of it. As others have suggested, you need to contact your BON for info....Good luck.

Hi I've got you beat I graduated in 2006 . I took the boards once and failed . Life went on and I worked for two years and could'nt really study. WheN I first took it I wasn't in a good place mentally. Right now I am preparing to take the boards again with the help of ATI course get course interactive tutor helps you with your review, now I'm almost at the end of the review. If you can afford it I suggest you take a course to help you along, you really know a lot more than you think you just might need a little proding you'll be okay. Check with your state and find out . In New York State you have five years and if any later than that you simply fill out another form for licensing. " SO ALL THIS TO SAY KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND DON'T GIVE UP SOMETIMES THINGS DON'T HAPPEN WHEN WE THINK THEY SHOULD HAPPEN BUT WHEN IT DOES IT WILL BE RIGHT AND YOU'LL READY FOR IT. I graduated Nursing school in 2002. I took the NCLEX once & failed. Life happened & here I am almost 9 years later. I took the Kaplan course & used the Saunders Comprehensive Review book to study. I did 75-100 questions everyday, looking at all the rationals, even the incorrect ones. If I needed a refresher about something, I read about it in Saunders. I studied seriously for 6 months (I was still working for 3 of those months, so my time was limited).

I'm happy to say I took the NCLEX today for the 2nd time & checked the PVT trick & got the "Good Pop up"!

hehe it's true tho. lol it's the legal stuff that made me worry O..O but thank GOD i didn't get questions about those. lol
