1)almost 23 years ago, yikes!
2) once, I took it just before my final semester of nursing school, we were able to do that back then(public health and preceptorship was the final semester)

3.How did you prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? (i.e. study material, prep course) Please be specific if you used prep book (give the names please). I didn't!!







4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? The two years I spent in nursing class. I studied diligently and when assigned to a specific area for clinicals I would always review relevant material, (i.e. G.I. scoping/ review A/P of the G.I. system and common diseases).





5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class? They would arrange a meeting between a review company and the students, but did not offer one as a class.







6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? Studying throughout the whole nursing program to build long-term memory instead of last minute cramming to pass a test. Once you have the basics down, ABC's, can apply Maslow's, the nursing process, and implement what you know about prioritizing and delegation you will be ready to sit for the NCLEX-RN.

1, 3 weeks after nursing school ended

I kept my summary review material that I had previously composed for each class' final exam and went through that, then I went through:
Exam Cram - read through entire book, did all questions. This was a great, concise review book and I enjoyed the CD of questions too. The book was in a good format and I sped through it - it held my attention well.
Then I went through Saunders CD, did around 1000 questions.


4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam?

3 weeks (notes from earlier classes were already compiled.)


5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class?

no


6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam?

I liked the combination of final exam notes -> entire Exam Cram book/questions -> Many many many Saunders questions. Each gave me a different angle and complemented the other very well. It helped hold my attention and keep me going. This approach worked great for me and I was confident going into the test.

1983.

In those days it was given only twice a year (pencil and paper test that took two days to complete). I took it a few months after graduation, and passed on the first attempt.



3.How did you prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? (i.e. study material, prep course) Please be specific if you used prep book (give the names please).

About the only thing there was then was a HUGE study book consisting of examination questions and answers.




4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam?


I completed the book of examination questions, then relaxed until my test date rolled around.



5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class?

Yes, but it was a short class that focused on test-taking strategies rather than on answering examination questions.





6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam?

Knowing that I had graduated with good grades and good evaluations, then the thorough review of the examination prep book, made me confident enough to relax and realize that if I kept my wits about me I could sail right through that thing (and I did!).

I took it 2x. I finished school in Aug. Took it in Oct. Took it again in Dec.

Kaplan question bank and the Saunders book.


4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? ok the first time I took it, I prepared for 3 months. The second time 4 weeks.


5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class? yeah but it was a joke.


6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? Do 250 questions a day for 3-4 weeks! That was what really helped me. Just doing question after question after question. Kaplan question were almost exactly what was on the test.

Never took it. The NCLEX was not done at the time I finished nursing school. I took a state board exam written by my state. Part of this 2 day test included a section of sample questions for the next group of test takers.

One time and passed the first time.

Studied on my own.

6 weeks. Exam was the week after July 4th for all students in the state.

No.

2.How many times did you take the NCLEX-RN exam and when was your first attempt after completion of nursing school? Just took it once, Summer 1981, don't remember what month, maybe July?

3.How did you prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? (i.e. study material, prep course) Please be specific if you used prep book (give the names please). I used a prep book, but don't remember which one. My school also offered a week long, 2 hour a day (If I remember correctly) review.

4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? Only had about 2 months between graduation and the exam.

5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class? I believe they did.

6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? Absolutely the review book. I went over that thing again and again.

I took Kaplan Review course, hated it to death while i was in in, but it worked, between that and nrsg school- i was all good. i really loved the online question bank and how that all worked out. i could make out my own quizzes numerous diff ways. was perfect for a working grad RN.

4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam? I did a MINIMUM of 100 ?'s a day online and then some in a book, and took breaks for a couple days at a time as well and just enjoyed working.

5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class? Well, they farmed it out really thru Kaplan.

6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? I woudnt say the entire Kaplan process, but for sure teaching you how to take the test and what matters and what doesnt when it comes to questions.

And THAT is why i passed in 75 questions on my first attempt.

Used study guides (books) and one day on computer with a friend's CD of questions. The books were Saunders and Mosby NCLEX study guides. Don't know where friend got CD







4.How long did it take you to prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam?
I looked at some material almost every day, about an hour or so at a time




5.Did your school offer a NCLEX-RN preparation class? Yes, but I could not afford it so did not take it.







6.What do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? Keeping information fresh in my mind by looking at it frequently.
