i have a question... i recently took my NCLEX RN, and learned that i did not pass.. i was so hurt..

now while i was taking my nclex, i noticed i was getting some REPEAT questions, very similiar, the choices were almost the same, and the wording was almost identical, but i still stuck with my initial answer... but now im beginning to think i should have changed my answer, because i heard if you get the same question its because you answered it wrong the first time...

i want to know , is that true? when you guys took the nclex and got repeat questions, did you change your answer choice?

I'm not sure honestly, but now that I look back I think I got a couple repeats too, I don't even remember if I changed my answer or not, but that happened to me also!

you know i can almost bet it was giving us another chance to get the answer right, and stupid me didnt use the chance, i stuck with my initial answer..

Yes,the computer is giving you the second chance to answer the question right (I have had this happen to me on Hesi exam,I answered the math question wrong and the same question repeated itself at some point during the the exam(not right away) so I would have the opportunity to try again)

Well I took the HURST Review and they said its just circumstance that you get a similar answer and that the computer can not test for your weaknesses and they are NCLEX experts, but some one on here said otherwise. I am not sure. They also said if you do get questions that are similar not to change your answer on the next one unless you know for sure you answered the one before wrong; maybe you remember it by then or something.

Dont let the computer fools you, treat each question different. That is what I did, I was not going to allowed the computer to drive me crazy. I stayed calmed and looked at each answer and applied the strategies.

NCLEX is an computer adaptive test: that means that the computer will find your weak spots and keep testing you there...pretty wicked no?

It does not search for your weak spots. Its computer adaptive because if you miss a question it will drop you to a lower level question, a question at random. Imagine a pass line. Everyone starts ON the pass line. In order to pass the NCLEX you must consistently stay ABOVE the pass line, not on it above it, more times than not. If you are above the pass line and you get a question wrong you will drop one level and get a random question at that level. If you get the next one right you will move up a level and get another random question at THAT level. If you get it wrong again you get dropped down another level. There are also right, not so right, and wrong answers. If you don't get the answer wrong but you do not hurt the patient you do not move up but you do not move down either. But if you pick a killer question, or the totally wrong answer you move down. THAT is how it is adaptive...

yes it was also a math question for me.. and I KNOW i answered it wrong the first time, and i also answered it wrong the second time.. and it also repeated a question related to a content area as well.. and i stuck with my intial answer.. i know i got it wrong again.. i know better for next time..
