Question about the license website

Okay I have a question about the license website. If you take the NCLEX will it show up on the license website that you have taken the test? Or will the website only show if you passed and now have your license?

My instructor was telling us a few stories about people who took the NCLEX and instead of being able to access online whether or not they passed and got their license... they had to wait on it to come in teh mail. 4-6 weeks or something. That would be long enough to make me GO INSANE!!!! And plus.. that is valuable studying time that you could be using if you needed to take the test over again because you failed.

Can something like this actually happen?

How do you know when you can safely tell that you have indeed failed the NCLEX? Can you really look at the license website and see that since its been 4 weeks and your license still isn't there, that you have failed?

My instructor also said they've made mistakes before and just have not put the license on the website right away or something got mixed up in the transition.
