Please help! IP has been cancelled, no update on license. What does this mean?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone! I've searched high and low and haven't found a thread that addresses the current issue I'm facing. I took my NCLEX 01/09/15 and I'm FREAKING OUT. Turned off at 78 questions, probably about 10 SATA. Yesterday (Sunday 01/11) my IP was cancelled. Is this normal? I called BRN and of course they said it could take 4 weeks to post. I'm sick to my stomach thinking I failed :( any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

#1, stop freaking out. Doesn't look good on you ;)

#2, YES, it is normal to have temporary (interim) permits cancelled once the holder takes the NCLEX. After all, once you have taken the test you either pass (and are issued a full license) or fail (and would lose temporary status as well as not being issued a permanent one).

If you live in a State that participates in Quick Results, and it's been at least 48 hours (it has, obviously), you can pay $8 to find out officially if you passed or failed.

How long it takes to post on your BoN website, that's another matter, unfortunately. Since you said they told you four weeks, I'm thinking you're in California....another unfortunate, since they are NOTORIOUSLY slow, and don't participate in QR. Bummer.

Think of it this way: 78 questions is only a few above the minimum. Is it more likely, based on the kind of student you were, how you prepared, that you failed very quickly.....or that you passed? Once you stop freaking out (LOL), really think about that. AND realize that the vast majority of test-takers who test for the first time DO pass :)

RNsRWe, seriously thank you so much haha I'm honestly not an anxious person at all but this is driving me nuts. I have a job offer pending my results so I feel the pressure! I came our if the test feeling ok because of 78 questions but then of course I started remembering all the things I didn't know. I am in CA so I'm hoping the delay is related to an overload at the BRN and not a failing score! Ahhhhhh.. Deep breaths haha

You're welcome....and BREATHE :)

California BoN gets away with murder, IMHO, because it takes them SO LONG to do what other States do in much less time. Yes, it's a large State, but so is Texas and we tend not to have issues there with the BoN. Oh, and they aren't any slower or quicker based on fails/passes....it's up to the person who finally reaches your file in the stack, and decides to type in the data!

It's a rare person indeed who walks out of the testing center convinced they passed! Those who passed easily (minimum number) STILL tend to walk out of there shell-shocked. I'm always amazed at those who say "I knew I passed, it was no big deal, I HAD it easily" etc. Odd indeed.

Hang in there. Many people are in just your situation, jobs hanging in the balance, and no conclusive way to know much of anything. There IS the PVT (details all over this board) but I'm not a fan....you DO have a small amount of risk of losing $200 if you pay for a registration fee you later won't need.

Meantime....do stuff to take your mind off this! You probably have been putting off a hundred things because of studying; now's the time to get back to them ;)

Having your IP canceled usually means that grey have been notified that you hav taken the NCLEX. When they find out, they just cancel the IP. You'll probably find out in a day or so. Just keep an eye out on BreEZe and eventually you'll have your answer.

You could also try the PVT but you could lose $200. That being said, since you took the exam a few days ago, it would be accurate.

Hi! What did u find out? Because same happens to me, my IP cancelled, but I didn't get any result yet

My IP got canceled when I tested and I also freaked out. Like someone else said, it just means they got notification that you tested. My license was posted not even 48 hours later. I am also in Cali and a recent grad.

Good luck to you!
