Pearson Trick

Students NCLEX

Published

Hi Guys,

I took my NCLEX around 1:00 this afternoon. The computer shut off at 75 questions and I kid you not I felt as though I didn't know one answer. I have over 25 SATA. I was feeling so defeated. I decided to do the pearson trick because I can't even focus. It's been about 2 hours after my test and I got the "good pop up" I'm hoping there is hope for this.

If the trick has any validity, it has been said that it is inaccurate for the first 24 hrs.

Why do you feel that you failed? Do you feel that you failed it so badly that it chose not to give you any more questions?

NCLEX is a completely different type of test than you have experienced in school. In school you had x number of questions and everyone had the same questions. You were graded on those questions. NCLEX is a computer adaptive test, meaning that it is attempting to find your "sweet spot" on difficulty of questions. Answer a question correctly, the next will be a little more difficult. Answer a question wrong and the next will be easier. It is attempting to get you to answer questions wrong to find your limit. It is possible for your test to stop at 75 questions and pass with only answering 30/75 questions correctly. In nursing school that would be a failure (40% correct). The test starts out above the pass line. If you alternated between right/ wrong answers (30/60) you would pass. The other 15 questions are beta questions and don't count.

Same situation. Tons of all SATA and 75 questions. I did the trick and it said I failed! I had taken it on a Friday and had the weekend off. I cried, moped around all weekend, drank a bottle of wine. On Monday, I found out I passed!!! So I wouldn't depend on the trick to be honest. Chances are with a bunch of SATA and 75 questions you passed. Years and years ago nurses would have to wait a couple months to find out!!! I can't even imagine! Good luck though! :) Sure you did great.
