Passing the NCLEX utilizing self confidence

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello all,

My fellow students and I graduated from an ADN program in Oregon on June 12th. We were informed that we should be receiving our ATT very soon. The emails came through on the 18th. By the time we got to schedule the exam all of the local testing were booked up for almost a month out. There was one date open for the next day, the 19th. The problem being that it was 3 and a half hours away in California. All along I had felt that I would take the test as soon after graduation as possible. So I scheduled it and on a days notice mentally prepared myself to take this intimidating test. Realizing that I should probably have chosen a later date I also have a job offer in the ED at my local hospital that begins on the 10th of July. I didn't have time to wait. The moral of the story, I wake up at 5:00am and drove 200 miles to take the NCLEX. After an hour into the test it shut off at 75 questions. I walked out feeling very confident that this would be the only time that I would take this test. Sunday morning using quick results my suspicions were confirmed. I passed! The reason that I share my experience is because I didn't take a single review course, I couldn't afford it. What I did have was confidence in the hard work that I have put in over the past four years. I knew that my program had gotten me ready and I was correct. My main piece of advice is to remain calm and to take each question one at a time. Confidence in yourself can be a very powerful tool. Good luck to those who are preparing to take this test. You can do it.

Wow that is awesome and just what I needed to read the night before my NCLEX tomorrow!!! I will try to stay confident as well. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :) :)

Congratulations! :D

From reading all these posts about people who take the NCLEX you hit the nail right on the head.

The #1 thing you need to pass the NCLEX is confidence in your self.

Congrats! I take my NCLEX in a couple hours. I feel like I know what I know at this point and no need in delaying this exam. I did Kaplan, and I have been doing very well on it. I hope to be sharing my story very soon!

Congrats! Well done. I do suggest that people take a bit of time to study, prepare for the NCLEX as that would tend to increase not only their ability to tackle the exam but boost their confidence.... but obviously your program prepared you well in the first place :)

Thanks for sharing. I'm taking mine in a few days also and I hope to have as much confidence as you did. Quick question. You said you took it in Ca. Did you have access to quick results? I thought they didn't offer it here. Thanks!

Quick Results is available (or not) depending upon an agreement between Pearson Vue and the State BoN. The OP said she is an Oregon resident, so I imagine she applied to the State of Oregon for a license. She'd be able to get Quick Results, as Oregon participates. The location of the testing center itself is irrelevant.

You are so right! I said something similar in a post. Congratulations!
