Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone,

I just found out I officially passed my nclex today. I always read this forum before I took my nclex. So I decided to share my experience.

I graduated in mid December, took break for while and start studying five weeks before I took nclex. I use many sources and some of them were very helpful.

1. Lippincott alternative format question. I briefly review for 2 days, may be approximately 7 hour and it helped me a lot for SATA. I wasn't good with SATA at all. when I did question trainer 6 from Kaplan I got only 5 SATA right and other 30 I got wrong. after practicing this book I got half of the SATA right from question trainer 7. so I think this book helped me a lot.

2. Kaplan(my school included in the program)- I did in class and online, both were very helpful. Kaplan question were hard so I didn't do very well. My diagnostic score was 53%, readiness score 58%, Q bank 55% average (didn't do all, may be 500 Q) question trainer 1-6 was from 53-57% and I thought I have QT 7 better but it didn't happen. I only got 48% and it was two days before my nclex exam. I got frustrated seeing at my QT 7 score. Even though I didn't feel ready for the exam, I review all the rational. I figure out I wasn't focus doing those 275 question and choose a lot of wrong answer I shouldn't be.

3. Hurst review online- very good for content review who needed to. I review once every thing and read the note few times, didn't review more than that because I was running out of time. I didn't do any question from hurst review.

4. NCSBN learning extension- very good question to practice for NCLEX. I think this 1200 questions helped my critical thinking. first 300 question I was getting 40, 50, 60 but after that I consistently getting 60-70%, few 80s too. I know their passing sore is 75% but I think score doesn't matter as long as we learned what we suppose to. highly recommended

5. Prioritizing and delegation book- I was very good with delegation and prioritizing so I only review infection control section one day before nclex. Very good book to review for nclex. recommended.

I study drug by category. Thanks god I did study drug. I had approximately 10 drug question, 40 SATA, 4 drag and drop, 1 math , 2 chart exhibit and rest was prioritization and further teaching. I wasn't feeling bad taking nclex because I keep getting SATA and I heard if you get a lot of SATA you are going to pass. But I was in that point I didn't want to have anymore SATA. No. 74 came and I got SATA, I seriously didn't want no. 75 SATA too but got it again. Good thing It turned off after that if not I don't think I was going to handle anymore SATA.

I practice a lot of question, didn't review too much content. Everything depends on how you learn. study when you are function the most. I study mostly evening(5-6 hr) for five days and work two days. I didn't study morning hour at all because I am not the morning person. I review my note, lab value and all nurses study guide(35 page) even before the test and night before the exam. Honestly do what works for you. NCLEX question were much easier than I was expected. I never felt ready to take my exam but I passed. So please don't panic. If I can do it then you all can do it. Best of luck everyone.

congratulations!
