Passed NCLEX! UWorld and Hurst!

Students NCLEX

Published

Hi guys! So I found out I passed the NCLEX yesterday, 75 questions. Of course, I was so sure I failed. LOTS of SATA. But, I passed so thank GOD!

I used Uworld and Hurst, + Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX Review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it personally. The core content book from Hurst was wonderful. Clear outlines, condensed with the important need to know information. I did okay on the Qtests as well. Then I would use UWorld to practice questions. I would get frustrated sometimes, because UWorld would present information I could not find in my Hurst content book, but that's what taking notes was for! And when I could not find something in my Hurst, I'd look it up in my Saunders comprehensive review, and take notes from there. The Saunders book is a GREAT BOOK, has everything you need to know with every detail. It's like 2 volumes of medsurg textbooks packed into one. If I had the time and patience to read the whole book I would have. But it was a GREAT GREAT GREAT resource to use and read from as needed, especially the Fundamentals section which reviewed lab values and tubes (chest tubes, NG tubes, etc).

I agree with everyone not to get caught up in the average % for UWorld. Some days I did hot, and some days so NOT. I finished the QBank with a 53% average, so nothing too special! What matters is READ THE RATIONALES. They can get detailed, but that's the best part. Sometimes I'd find myself too tired or impatient to read them, that's when I'd stop and take a break because the rationales really need to be read. They're really really helpful! So, don't get too hung up or doubtful on your score. Just learn as much as you can/take notes from the rationales!

For those anxious/nervous: I GET IT. I totally get it. But you can do this! Study hard and have faith in yourself and take deep breaths. Sometimes, I'd stare at the computer in the testing room and feel myself getting choked up because of anxiety. But close your eyes, take deep breaths, or ask for a quick break. YOU GOT THIS! ;)

Congratulations!!!! Good luck on your future endeavor.I'm always having this paranoia that I won't make it coz I got only 52%, your post inspires me. I'll be taking my exam in 7 days and I'm so scared. :)

I really like this post. Some get so wrapped up in the percentages and that's where the anxiety comes from! I have a 52% in the Mastery App and I am satisfied. When I took my ATI predicator, I had a 90% chance of passing NCLEX the first time.

Sometimes, scores really matters. But when you got low scores, its your chance to signal yourself to study more not to be depressed and disappointed. :)

Congrats in passing !!! I'm sitting at a 54 % overall in uworld which Is so frustrating :( but trying to focus on the rationales. Did you find uworld harder or similar to the nclex?

Thank you everyone! If I can do it, so can you!

Good luck to you, @luluaspiringRN! You got this ♡

And @nurseinthemakin01: I personally found UWorld very similar to NCLEX. Like the style and format of the questions were the same in difficulty. I've tired doing questions in my Saunders Q&A book, and those were way too easy in my opinion. But still good rationales. UWorld really makes you critically think, which really really helped me for NCLEX because it's very similar. Especially those SATA. I thank GOD for UWorld's SATA's. Because I don't think I would have been able to conquer the ones on the NCLEX without it!

I will agree with Kittyxqueen. Uworld will make you immune to SATAs. I tried to answer Saunders and Im getting 74-96%. I just hope Ill be calm during my exam. :)

How were you doing on the Hurst tests ? I've done Hurst too going to be doing the tests soon. They say to get at least 68 % on their tests. Just curious :)
