Passed NCLEX 7th time,international nurse
I hope my story will be helpful and give hope to someone who have struggles with NCLEX, especially international nurses!
Hello everyone, I'm kind of new on this web site and just have found this site accidentally not long time ago. I've read so many threads about NCLEX-RN and found it very helpful since I was trying to pass NCLEX. I'm a foreign nurse and was looking for help and any tips for passing NCLEX cause I graduated many years ago and haven't taken classes here. I found some helpful stuff on this site and it was interesting to read so many differ. stories. I decided to share my little story in hope that it might be helpful for someone, especially international nurses, who might have struggles with this exam. I've tried to pass NCLEX 6 times without success. Some times I felt like I almost did it, but then found out that I failed..After my 6th failure, I had just one more try left before my license got expired. I began to realize that my chances just almost zero and there's really no hope.
I have tried Kaplan course 2 times before, Saunders, ATI and NCSBN. I can't say that those courses are not good because they work for many people but I think maybe I didn't put enough effort and time to it. So, when I got to the point that I have just one last try, I put aside everything-friends, fun, family,Facebook, EVERYTHING..took some time off work.. I started to live in the NCLEX world. Purchased UWorld and Kaplan(one more time). I decided to try Kaplan one more time cause they have really good lectures with explanations(I used them). So, I tried to get up early in the morning and do questions almost all day only with short necessary breaks.
On days when I was working, during my breaks I used Mastery app. on my phone. I also found on Google NCLEX-RN Kaplan audio lessons, they were so helpful-I could listen to them on my way to work or during mealtime at home. Also, started to use UWORLD and found it so amazing. First, the rationales are just so wonderful. Among all resources that I've used before, they are the best. After every question they have great explanations and you don't have to Google or try to find info about particular content. They have all it there. It saves so much time. Also, the questions were so hard, much more harder than Kaplan and about 95% is SATA q. So, after completion all of them you really get used to them and feel prepared for SATA on your exam. Kaplan was so helpful too but since they don't have very deep explanations like UWORLD, I e-mailed Kaplan representatives with questions that wasn't clear to me almost every day or couple times per day for a week or so. I think they got pretty tired of me eventually but I really needed to know the answers..
And I passed the NCLEX! And the most important thing that I want to mention- is the Lord. Without His help, I would never be able to make it. I realize that this is a miracle and His great mercy! I could study day and night but without His help I would never be able to make it. He showed me His hand and His amazing miracles from the time when I got ATT# and thru the whole exam. It was something unbelievable. Here's not enough space and time to tell about all of it. I can just say that my computer shut down around 1 min. before I ran out of time on exam day. So I saw great, amazing miracles that only God could do. As a Bible says: All, who put their trust in Him will not be ashamed! To Him be the Glory!!!
