Passed NCLEX 2015 with Uworld & HURST review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello, when I was reviewing for NCLEx RN I would often come to this site for advise, but I always see people who have passed it (congrats btw & no offense) who seemed very very smart and I am not like that. Didn't have high grades as a student, only high Bs and Cs. So I am aiming to somewhat relieve some anxiety to average people like me haha.

For the first 2 weeks I used HURST coz I know I needed to stregthen my core content knowledge. Nevermind the accent, it'll actually help you remember. I wrote down everything instead of printing the notes they provide, this helps me remember plus talking to myself in front of the mirror ( sounds crazy right? Haha) but hearing my own voice and correcting myself kinda help stuck it in my brain. I finished all the quizzes (6) and I only got the "estimated" score in order to probably pass the NCLEX, ONCE, which was 86/125 and I even got 66/125 ( I was panicking).

In Uworld, I only finished 1300 of the questions and am always above average but no more than 15% above it. I did at least 4 hrs/day or if I'm lucky at up to 6hrs/day in 4 weeks total of study, and at least 75 questions/day for 2 weeks. I also wrote down every rationale and reviewed my notes everyday and all of my notes 2 days before the exam. It was exhausting so I find that it really helps that at least once a week I go out, have fun and relax too.

The day before I did not WANT to do any review although I was itching to, no no not a good idea. It'll make you panic. It DID. So please refrain yourself from doing so.

And of course Pray. Pray. Pray to God for guidance and strength.

On the day of NCLEX, I am not kidding but after being bombarded with uber hard questions in uWorld, the Nclex seemed easier but after the exam I felt I failed anyways. I got kicked out after 75 questions and 2 1/2 hrs(I took my sweet time) and I was devastated. I kinda started reviewing a day after the exam hahaha.

I had 10-15 SATA, maybe 15-20 delegation and prioritization and at the end at least 7 basic knowledge questions which for some reason I know I got some of them wrong. I forgot the rest.

But after a week voila to my biggest surprise I passed.

Some questions were similar to uWorld and HURST helped with the SATA questions. I don't think I would have passed NCLEX without HURST & Uworld and of course full support from my family.

There you go, finally haha. I hope I kinda helped someone somehow. If I did it, you can do it too. Good luck and God bless!

I am doing the same prep, love Uworld. Test next week.

thanks gives me hope

Congrats!!🎉🎉

I just passed and had 75 questions too.

Also did Uworld.. It's amazing!!

Congrats I am using Uworld & hurst aswell & also LAcharity PDA! I test in 2 1/2 weeks! Eeeek! I scheduled a massage the next before to decrease test anxiety!! hope that helps!

Question: how do you suggest approaching SATA questions???

Gavi91 Good luck to you. I hope you pass. :)

cylmara Thank you, and congrats to you as well. I know, it was a really great study tool. :)

alohaBSN thank you! I will pray for your success.

Haha massage before the exam, AWESOME idea! :)

Hmmm for me I treat every single option as true or false and just whatever you pick the first time you read it, do not change it, chances are you are already right.

Reading these blogs really help with the support. I took the NCLEX 20 days ago, and was not successful. I went through the Hurst review and did Uworld questions as well. To my defense, I know why I did not pass. I think UWORLD and Hurst are great! I only was able to get through about 700 Uworld questions, but this time I plan on taking the time and doing the full amount if possible. I am also going through the Hurst remediation course which is amazing! Wish me luck everyone! I'm planning on retaking it in 3 weeks! Hopefully that'll be more than enough time for me to feel prepared! I am so eager to start working! If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears!
