officially an LPN :) ..words of advice..

YAY!!!! just got my quick results this morning and i passed!!!!!! woo-hoo!! this was my 1st time taking NCLEX, and i was actually surprised by how little it lived up to the standards of what i thought - mostly from what i've read on this site. I'm not saying the test way easy by any means, but it really wasn't the hardest thing I've ever had to do. So if you're going to do the NCLEX for the first time, do not hype yourself up over it!! I think that will do more harm than good. Just prepare yourself. I used KAPLAN QBANK mostly, just took the tests, and that really prepared me for it. Their questions are harder than the actual exam!! Plus their format is very similar and you get used to doing kaplan, so once u sit for ur exam its not so intimidating. I also used the mnemonics list thats floating around here (spiderman, mrs wee, vchips, etc) and that was a *huge* help for the test (hint hint). I got a ton of infection control questions, quite a few SATA, maybe 5 meds, 3 calculation, and lots of priority. Also expected s/s of certain diseases. So..just relax and practice questions, I strongly suggest KAPLAN. All i did was Qbank, no classes or anything. And i only used 10% of tests available, so even a lil bit of it helps a lot.

Good luck to all of you getting ready to test, and just remember...if you made it this far, you will be fine. 85% of PN takers pass on their first try. And if you don't pass...just practice more and review core concepts. If you have it in you to be a nurse, and know your stuff, you will be OK

thanks everyone!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU who are getting prepared...just have faith, try to "chillax", take a few deep breaths before the test and say a quick prayer..and trust your instincts. remember your ABCs when prioritizing. know infection control. you'll do GREAT!
