Not study & still passed

Nursing Students NCLEX

Is there anyone out there who hasn't studied their butts off yet still passed? I'm just curious because I have a hard time studying, but I really need to take my NCLEX-PN soon, but haven't studied as much. Or are there any study tips someone has that can help? Thanks:-)

tcooks I know what ya mean. I have 3 kids, one which has severe ADHD and a husband who is never home to help (due to working his butt off for us, so I wouldn't have to work while in school.) And after school, I just needed a break from it all. I had no desire to even crack open a book. I was too busy trying to get my life back together after school lol. I was an average student in nursing school and had to study my butt off, just to pass the exams. I really felt like school prepared me enough. Good luck...from one tired momma to another :)[/quote']

Oh, we are definitely in the boat. My youngest has Spina Bifida, so automatically people act like they're afraid to babysit, even daycares. So that's another reason why I can't drop em off and have at least a couple hrs to myself to study. I think my brain just needed the last few weeks off to rest. I just moved from WI to Phoenix and I'm still wrapping my brain around that. I'm trying to get her in head start, then maybe I can crack open my Saunders Review:-)

When I did the NCSBN, the rationales were at the bottom of the question, and I just scrolled down...I thought there were no rationales when I started as well.

I love your profile pic-I'm a huge fan of Betty Boop. Where did you get that NCSBN book from? Is is like Saunders or better?

Got the good pop up 40min. later. Took the NCLEX-RN and took me about an hour in a half. Did not study at all I "glanced" at some things the night before, and did Hurst review twice. I would say nursing school is what prepared me the most. I think if you got through that, then you'll be fine. Good luck!!!![/quote']

Congrats!!! I'm taking mine on Wednesday and am more anxious than I anticipated. Any advice from someone who didn't study? Lol thanks!!

I love your profile pic-I'm a huge fan of Betty Boop. Where did you get that NCSBN book from? Is is like Saunders or better?

The NCSBN is totally online, and I used Saunders flash cards...they have NCLEX-RN and PN. The Saunders were good for on the go.

As for you child, have you looked into whether he can go to a medical daycare??? You may be new to your area, but find out which daycares take kids with medical needs.

And I'm the one with Wonder Woman...btw...I do like her Betty Boop as well ;)

Every daycare I call, tell me they cant take her due to the fact that she needs to be straight-cath q 4-5 hrs. She was in a daycare back home, initially they said the same thing, but when I came in and showed them how to do it, they had no problem with it. Somehow I thought being in Phoenix, it'd be easier for someone with special needs...its so funny. They tell me they take kids who get insulin, but none with a catheter. You can kill someone with insulin, not with a straight-catheter!! LOL

Check for a list in your area...check with your child's pediatrician, or you can work with a Pediatric Home Health Agency. I've been a Peds nurse for 7.5 years, including Medical Daycare for 4 and Peds home health for 7.5. You may be eligible for a nurse to be in the home to do straight caths while you study...Insurance companies do give some leeway to parents who may need to work, find a job, study for the NCLEX...even if you get approved for 4 hrs 3-5 days a week, you can get work done...Also, look into having nursing students who have done their Peds rotation baby sit for your child, just in case something happens, they are familiar with s/s, and you get to study, if you can afford that. It's true, straight cath is too invasive for a regular daycare, with LOTS of potential complications...too much liability. Hope this helps!

I started studying for the NCLEX-RN the day before I took the exam; I passed in 45 minutes with 75 questions. I am convinced that no amount of studying can prepare oneself for these exams.

I barely studied. Did the Hurst live review, watched a few online videos, and did two QReview tests, that was it. Passed with 75 questions in under 40 minutes.

I've never really had to study when it came to school, but I guess I'm freaking myself out for this because it's one of the most important things I've ever done. I just need to buckle down, I guess! I am right there with you. Having a very hard time studying for this with my full time job, 2 kids and bills to pay. Very hard. I am studying though just hard to concentrate.

I took nclex RN, I took an ati review coorifice for 5 days and then studied about 5 days before te exam and passed at 75 questions. Good luck! I really studying is just to build confidence. You know what you the day after graduation.
