Not feeling confident

Ok took my PN boards yesterday, and I feel like I totally blew it. I cut off at 96 questions and of those 96 questions, I really feel I didnt know any of them. I studied using 4 different books and CD's, plus took a review class. I was asked questions that were nothing like what I came across in the books and cd's. I had a lot of meds that I never heard of before along with a lot of SATA, Priority, 2 math.

I dont understand the NCLEX. They tell you to do 1000's of questions (I probably did at least 6000) and not one of my questions on the exam where anything that I studied. The NCLEX exam had no roots that could lead you to even make a correct guess. I didnt feel to good going into the exam and came out feeling even worse.

Has anyone else come across where the NCLEX exam seemed to be way off of what they tell you to review. I mean questions that you would look at and are clueless. At least when I was doing review questions, the questions would direct me to make an educated guess that I got right more than half the time.

Even worse, I cant even recall any of the questions that were on the NCLEX exam. Oh and what is with asking the same question more than once on the exam!

No one can really explain the NCLEX although many think they have failed when really they haven't. Best thing to do is wait for results and see what you get.

Welcome and good luck

I know exactly how you feel. I took the NCLEXRN on monday. I came out just knowing that I had failed because I was guessing. I had the same experience with meds.... no clue in the name of the med as to what class of med it belonged in. I was sure I had failed. BUT..... I found out this morning that I passed. From reading through hundreds of posts here, everyone feels that they have failed. So, try not to be so worried. I am sure that you did better than you think you did!

After not feeling confident about passing the NCLEX, I read some postings people put on here and read about the pearsonvue "trick". Im not sure if others know about it, but I tried it and I was unable to advance to the credit card screen. In reading other posts it basically stated it was a good sign of passing.

I did not want to believe the pearsonvue trick but many people said they passed. I am still not believing it but it did work for me.

Last night at work before I left I decided to check my results of the NCLEX. A new grad who I work with walked by me and said she knows that screen way to well, then all of a sudden I had all the other nurses standing behind me and telling me to hit the button for my results. I didnt want to do it because if the results were what I thought they would be, I wasnt sure if I would be able to face my coworkers. I work with a lot of good supporting people so I hit the results button and...................PASS!!!!!!!

I think we scared a few patients, but I had a crowd of coworkers and patients congradulating me.

I feel so relieved that it is over! It was the hardest test I have been faced with since being in nursing school. I know actually say I am a nurse!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to all on the exam.
