Need help passing nclex failed x 3

by Lamour

I do not understand why i can not pass this test. my scores were 140,265, 75. The content that the results say i need help in are changed for all 3 test. For example test 1 and 2 i was above passing in basic care but in test three i was below another one was management of care i was near passing in test 1 and 2 but test 3 i was below. I have taken a reveiw course, purchased saunders, kaplan, exam cram, i have done well with the questions but still can't pass the test. I do not feel nervous or scared when i am taking this test, i know that i am frustrated because i maintain good grades in nursing school and i was the one helping a few of my classmates and i know for a fact that they barely graduated from nursing school and they passed the nclex the 1st time go figure? So looking at the content area for me is not telling me anything because i can not see the questions that i did not answer correctly. I took the 3rd test last week . Please i am open to any suggestions thanks

Devise a study plan and put it on a calendar. Make sure you give yourself enough time to prepare before scheduling your exam. Study as if you had never tested before. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. Don't skip over anything. You will pass if you keep trying. Good luck.

i am using the cd's in the back of the book and answering the questions and if i get it wrong i look at the rational or if i am not certain of what it is asking of me i review that area of content that i am weak in. I spend a least 2 hrs a day studying

I did the same thing. I did Kaplan and Saunder questions, and Hurst's and ncsbn reviews. I also made flash cards. Hope this helps.

Lamour, how many questions are you doing? My instructor told us to do 9000 questions, go over the rationales and write down or type the ones you get wrong. Try to focus in management of care for a whole week, do as many questions in that area as possible. I just took the Kaplan Review, my diagnostic test, I got a 54%. One week later, I took the readiness test, I got a 64%. What I did, I checked my results and realized that I scored low in management of care and basic care, so I took ten hours the weekend before the readiness, reviewed contents and did over 500 questions on just management of care and another 400 on basic care. I was able to increased my score from getting 34% to 83% on management of care. Now, I feel I will do well on those questions.

Alot of people will try to give you all kinds of suggestions about this and that, but take it from me, your issue is not the content. I think you are not employing the best test taking strategies. I would say if you got through nursing school OK then put away the nursing books because that's not the problem. I think you already have Kaplan and Saunders, I would also recommend getting a couple more. You can find used CD's for these courses online for cheap. Please use the Cd's to practice and not the book. Try doing about 1000 questions per day, time yourself. Read the rationals of the questions that you get wrong. And last but not least, be positive, don't second guess yourself, go with your first instinct. Let me know how you are doing.
