Need help calculating flow rate

by pmjm94

So I spent the longest time trying to figure out the answer to two of these practice problems but still cannot figure out how to calculate the correct answers. The website only gives the correct answer but not how to get them.

If any one can explain how to, I would greatly appreciate it. THANKS!

1. An infusion of 5% D/W has 800 milliliters left in bag (LIB). The flow rate is 31 drops per minute, and the drop factor is 15 drops per milliliter. How long will it take for this IV to infuse? 6 hours, minutes

ANSWER IS 27

2. The patient was admitted with unstable ventricular tachycardia. The order reads: 500 mg bretylium tosylate (10 mL) to 50 mL 5% D/W IV.
The total amount of solution is 60 milliliters; it is to be infused at a rate of 0.1 milligram per kilogram per minute. The patient weighs 180 pounds, and the drop factor is 15 drops per milliliter. Calculate the flow rate. gtt/min.

I hope the above website helped you but if you are still struggling post again.
What method for math do you use?
Formula, Ratio and Proportion or Dimensional analysis?
It may only confuse you more if shown using a different method.

Show your work what you did to try and work this out and maybe one of us can tell you what you need to do different.
