NCLEX tips

  1. 1 I am taking the NCLEX in 6 days, and I thought maybe those who have taken it and passed would be willing to share their tips. Study tips, relaxation tips whatever you have to help us who have not taken it yet would be helpful. We need your input!

    Thank you

I am preparing for the NCLEX any words of advice? I am interested in the online review sponsored by the National Council of State Board (NCSBN) has anyone used this review if so was it helpful or is Kaplan review more helpful?

i dont know if i passed yet, but the NCSBN online reviewer helped me a lot. the price for the classes depends on how long you want to take it. plus they're the ones who make the actual NCLEX questions so check it out... www.learningext.com

I didn't use any reviews other than the Saunders Q&A book so I don't know about the NCSBN's course, but I would definitely visit www.ncsbn.org and click on the 2006 Candidate Bulletin for more information about how the NCLEX works. It's truly amazing to me that people go in and take the NCLEX without a basic understanding of the exam's ins and outs. Good luck!

I am using this book and Saunders Comprehensive Review. I had to channel myself in one direction. I was going through too many books I think and feeling overwhelmed. I am hoping sticking with Saunders will be a good thing.

I am doing the NCSBN review right now. I think the questions are harder than Saunders. The content seems about on par with the Saunders Comprehensive. What a nervous time in life this is...and wasn't nursing school bad enough???

The day before the exam, I chilled and focused on other things that I needed to get done. I also did some more questions from the saunders cd ( I know that this is the last thing that anyone is supposed to do, but if you knew me, "I couldnt help myself"). That night when I went to bed I did my usual routine. I was contemplating whether or not I should take my benadryl, since I usually take this at night for sleeping, I did not want to be groggy for the drive and the test, but then it dawned on me that maybe I should follow my routine because deviating from this my upset my body clock, so I took my benadryl and slept very well. I pretty much studied saunders. I felt like that helped me tremdously with the exam (I passed). The very best of luck with your exam!!!

I reviewed a few drugs the night before....and then I got a good night's sleep. I didn't drive myself crazy studying before NCLEX...I took a week long review class right out of school and scheduled my test as soon as I could.

I am taking the test on July 8th. I have been using the ncsbn website and Saunder's Comprehensive review. The website is very good. It is helping me with finding the stem of the question, better than the Saunders. Saunders is good for content questions. I think that using both is giving me a good balance of questions. Good luck with your test!

If you are taking the test on the 8th, this should reach you before you go for the test. Keep a posititive attitude, you are ready for this. Your time in nursing school was well spent and you must trust your own knowledge. If you feel you are getting stressed during the test, stop for a minute, focus on a good thing in your life (there are many) take several deep, slow breaths and then begin again with the questions. No matter what happens with this test, it does not diminish you as a person, it only changes your short term agenda. Good luck!
