Nclex study guides?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello all,

I'm getting pinned as an RN in June, and am looking for a good NCLEX study guide. I want to start early to prepare for the state boards. There are so many study guides, and I don't know which one to choose. For those of you who purchased a study guide, which one(s) have been the most helpful?

Hello all,

I'm getting pinned as an RN in June, and am looking for a good NCLEX study guide. I want to start early to prepare for the state boards. There are so many study guides, and I don't know which one to choose. For those of you who purchased a study guide, which one(s) have been the most helpful?

You are likely to get as many opinions on programs as there are students....and programs! In a nutshell, they are all designed to help you pass the NCLEX, and they all work. HOWEVER, what "works' for some isn't necessarily what another needs.

Some programs focus primarily on content, and getting you up to speed if you didn't ace this in school. Or if you did, but your school wasn't particularly good. Other programs focus primarily on strategy, and getting you to apply the knowledge (content) you acquired in school. You have to be able to critically think your way through the NCLEX scenarios in order to pass, plain and simple.

Think about the kind of student you are, and where you tend to need help the most in preparing for an exam. That will help. Then take a look around this message board, as there are HUNDREDS of posts on this very topic.

Good luck!

Start with knowing the content and getting to know the drugs well....generic names only. Maybe you can start using the ncsbn review?? Very inexpensive $70 for 5wks. Can't hurt to use their review. ..they write the nclex exam.
