NCLEX RN Today, my 2 cents worth

For anyone that is checking this site daily before their exam (just like I did...here are my 2 cents worth of input):

Ok, Be sure and eat a light breakfast. An apple is the best, a boost of natural sugar. Take some water with you.

Regarding the test...look over DELEGATION and PRIORITY questions for sure. Practice as many of these as possible. I had lots of " Which statement made by the client exhibits understanding of teaching, or indicates needs further teaching" Lots of these. Don't forget to convert lbs to kg. All of my math had to be converted. Review all the types of isolation/safety precautions...airborne, droplet, standard and which diseases or conditions warrant which type. If your hoping not to get any select all that apply...don't waste your time...there will be plenty of these. I had 110 questions, I stopped counting at 22. Look over your heart meds, your -prils and -lols, also Mag Sulfate and Digoxin, S/S of toxicity and osteoporosis meds. I'm glad that it is over, I just hope that I passed. Hope this helps anyone who wanted some last minute tips. Good Luck and Breathe...

For those wandering if the HESI compares...I think the HESI is harder. NCLEX to me was about "Do I know enough to safely teach and safely manage a patient's care." Also, "Can I effectively communicate with patient's that are ill to promote healing" Trust your gut, you know more than you think you do...you got this far and you survived nursing school...that was the hard part, this test is just the final way of ensuring you will be a SAFE nurse...its all about SAFETY and knowing when something doesn't look or sound right...again, trust your gut feeling.
