NCLEX-RN (freaking out!)

Updated Jul 15, 2005 at 12:06 PM by prettysam

Hi:
I took the California NCLEX-RN on 7-12-05 and need to know how long it will take to see my results on the California BON website. I had 75 questions. There was one pharmacological and several prioritizing-questions. Can any of you tell me if the last question on the test predicts anything?

California can take a few weeks to post. You cannot use Pearson-Vue for early results, California doesn't permit it.

Please do a search on this site for more information on this...............

Default Thanks for the reply( I heard otherwise)
Thanks for the reply, Suzanne, but I have read elsewhere on this forum that it could be as soon as two or three days. Is that true?

It varies. I took mine on 7/7 and the results were on their website on 7/12. Others in Ca can seem to take weeks.

Thanks for the reply, Nurse2b2005. Do you have any idea why it took so long, in your case? Did they have to process your transcripts, or anything, or was everything in order before you took your test? I need some reassurance.

They will not release any license until they have processed the transcripts.
Your friends just got lucky that their license was posted so quickly. That is one of the reasons that there is such a variance in the time that licenses are posted. Some will find theirs posted in two to three days, others will take two to three weeks. Posting is done manually after they assign you a license.

Do you know for a fact that they have your transcripts as well as anything else that they need? CA BON will not inform you if they are missing anything.

It's been over 4 weeks and I'm still waiting. As you've seen a thousand times, it depends on when the school sends in your transcripts. Mine were finally sent in the beginning of this week. Call the BRN and make sure they have your complete file. If it's complete, I've known people seeing their name on the BRN site within 3-5 days. They only update their system once a night in the middle of the night, so check in the mornings Tues-Sat. Best of luck to you and find something fun to do to keep your mind off of the whole waiting game.

Hi PrettySam!
Mine was actually pretty quick. Since I took it on a Thursday and my name showed up on the website the following Tuesday morning, they issued my license on Monday the 11th. That is darn fast for California, at least IMO. Our school sent in our transcripts in one big envelope in the beginning of June. I really think it just depends on where you took the test and when the board gets to your test. Some classmates took the test in one center, and with all of them, their names post in one to two weeks. Where I tested, it processed quickly and up on the website in 5 days. (And this seems to hold true with the 25 people that I know that tested where I did, sounds coincidental, or that center is efficient.) But they do have to have your file complete before they issue the license, so you might want to check up on that. Hope that helps!

It has nothing to do whatsoever with where you took the exam, everything is still handled thru the office in Sacramento. Even if you took the exam in another state, it dependson when your transcripts were processed.

The tests are processed thru Pearson-Vue and via computer.

Remember that all licenses are manually assigned, they are not just done by computer.

Default Still waiting..
I don't think it matters where you take the exam. I have classmates that took exam same day at same location with various rates of results being posted. Some were 3 days and others 2.5 weeks. I am still waiting after 2.5 weeks....
I finally called the BRN and they said my transcripts were in but my file was not processed yet. She told me they are very busy due to so many NCLEX applications/test takers and that something should be on the system next week. I am not sure what that means but I am holding out hope.
Does anyone know if that could be code for passing??? Or am I reading too much into it??? The only way you get on the system is if you get a license...right??? Ugh , I hate this
