I just left the testing center here after taking all 265 questions and assumed I failed. Seemed impossible that I passed. did the PVT and got the pop up. God I hope that its accurate. I know countless of people have done it and its been correct. Is there a time limit to how low you wait to do it.
I am not sure...but I am checking my states BON website frequently on the license verification feature by entering my social security # so fingers crossed that it will show up by this afternoon (if not I am paying for the 48 hour results so I can find out tomorrow morning).

Best wishes! 265 does not mean the end of the world and can be positive - I have learned this from others' testimonies.

  2. No - computer adapted testing is set up to give you questions until it is 95% sure that you are within passing level. If you prove yourself within 75 questions (or disprove yourself - you will see this evidenced by lower level questions) then the computer will cut off and make up its mind, if it is not entirely accurate (but you are still above level in questions) it will continue to give you questions in hopes of you proving to it that you are constant and competent in your responses. In reality, when the computer continues to give you questions it is not a bad sign - it is good because it is giving you a chance to prove yourself and your answer consistency.

    State should not matter.

I am far from taking the NCLEX (haven't even started school yet) but why do you hear of some people taking 75 questions and some 265 questions? Does this vary by state or something?
i responded by not quoted by your response - new to this! sorry

I too took the the NCLEX today with 265 questions and took almost the full 6 hours. I also got this pop up so I am hoping that I passed as well.
Looks like we're in the same boat - please keep me posted! I am checking my states BON in hopes they will post my license information early but if not I am paying the money and getting my 48 hr results in the morning.

I ended up taking almost 6 hours - to be honest the last 20 minutes i laid back in my chair and tried to relax and just stared at that last select all - knowing my answer could mean pass/fail.

It will give you hope for sure. I've cried a lot in the last few days. Staying positive prior to the test is equally as challanging - I reccomend taking it as early as possible post-graduation, I waited around because of summer plans and because I didn't want the stress but it created more stress and there is a lot riding on my pass//fail...financial and career....my new job will start Monday so the weight of the exam overpowered my self-confidence.

Posting a percentage is totally misleading. There is no "percentage" of right or wrong, you have to get more right than wrong and that's how the computer tells. It's a complex algorithm that really no one but the programmer knows. Going by the "95% sure" is way off base. If you get the full 265 questions that means that you bombed the first 15 and were forced to do the rest to prove the 95%. If you do the first 75 and it shuts off, that means that in the first batch you got more right than wrong so it was satisfied that you were safe. If you did the full 265 you confused the computer through the entire test so it ended at the maximum amount of questions. The number of questions doesn't vary by state, it all depends on you and if you can convince the computer that you are safe within 75-265 questions. The last question wrong/right doesn't determine pass or fail either.

This is what the national council has published.

  10. By saying 95% I did not mean 95% correct only but rather that there is a 95% certainty that the individual testing is above level in answering exam questions.
