NCLEX-RN 2016

Students NCLEX

I took my NCLEX-
RN
yesterday and I have a strong feeling that I FAILED for the second time, my test stopped at 75 and I thought the last questions were really basic ones and that gave me a strange feeling that I didn't make it again. I did the PVT and got a bad pop up, took my $200 and now I am just waiting to get my ATT so I can retake the test. I decided to initiate this topic hoping I can get some advice for studying. I am planning to purchase the ATI NCLEX-
RN
online review and I am open for suggestions. Also, if anyone here has some links I can go to for resources, I would really appreciate! I am planning to take my 3rd NCLEX-
RN
on JULY 2016 or first week of AUGUST 2016.

I'm an LVN in california, working as a field nurse for a Home Health Agency. I passed the NCLEX-PN last year using ATI review and I have to say it worked for me.

AND OH, by the way.. please don't mind me post some activities I did starting today on how I prepared for my next NCLEX-RN test. I wanted to document and at the same time wanted to see if there is anyone who can tell where I am lacking. I intend to pass my next NCLEX-RN. SO today.. I started with Pharmacology because I am weak on this part. I mean ... really I suck with Pharma.

You're right. However, although I want to believe I passed, I knew i didn't deserved to pass this one. I took a week off from work but unfortunately I was not able to concentrate studying. There's a lot of personal things happening to me right now - not the bad ones (thank god) and I only did some Q&A from a NCLEX app I downloaded on my phone. I did a little reading in fundamentals and that's about it. I'm resigning my job in 4 weeks from now (today is 5/20/2016) hopefully I can focus on reviewing. Having said that, I plan to do an intensive review on Pharmacology. Thanks for the response Jayjormom. Sure thing I will update soon. Have a blessed day.

If it turns out you didnt pass, use UWorld and lacharity.

Good luck!

Hi Ackeem, thank you for the suggestion. Can you tell me more about Uworld and lacharity? Is this online or book? Again, I appreciate your help. I will do a research about it too.

Lacharity is prep book that focuses on priority and delegation questions similar to whats on the actual exam. Very good prep book in my opinion.

UWorld is a highly sophisticated question bank with high level questions from all areas, detailed rationales, topic reviews and focused educational objectives. UWorld commands alot of time but if used effectively will yield great results.

Good luck!

Hi there

In the case that you did fail, I would highly recommend studying with Uworld. My school provided us with Kaplan but I went ahead and bought Uworld with my own money and am glad I did. All 75 questions I got on my NCLEX were covered or talked about in Uworld and almost made the NCLEX seem too easy.

If you read the threads here, A LOT of people that failed the first time but passed the second or third, always say that Uworld is the difference.

What's so great about Uworld? The rationales! Although it is a question bank of about 1800 questions, the rationales that are provided with each question is like a content review itself. Every type of question is covered... SATA, exhibit, pharmacology, etc.

Lol I sound like a spokesperson for Uworld but I swear I'm not. This is just how much I loved it after using BOTH Kaplan and Uworld.

Thank you for that and I'm glad to say I have the book now. Anyway, let me tell you how my previous test went through. I'm surprised that the questions are not really hard. But it was almost all about pharmacology and this is my weakness. I didn't get a lot of prioritization. I did get about 4-5 prioritization question though.

Did you get your result you don't know for sure.

Wait for the results because until you know for sure, there's still a chance. Especially in 75 questions!

But if you didnt pass, i want to share with you how i studied my second time and finally passed. The first time around i used kaplan and hurst live review. I found that both were very helpful but hurst live review was not enough for content (which i really needed to study more on). So the second time around i added LaCharity for prioritization and Saunders for more content---although i only read the Adult Med-Surg portion. If you have the time, i suggest you go through the whole book. After doing Saunders i did kaplan's question trainers 4-7 and noticed that my scores jumped about 10% more from the first time i took them and i felt more confident in answering the questions.

I also came across this link from ATI testing that REALLY helped me in understanding the way NCLEX questions are made and how to choose the best answer

Take a break and give yourself time to relax. I think that being more relaxed the second time around helped me perform better. If you I can do it, I believe you can too! Good luck!
