Hello all

I am going to be graduating from an RN program in May 07 (hopefully). Anyway it is going to cost about 350.00 to take a review class for the NCLEX. Has anyone done or heard about these review classes, are they worth the money??? Thanks for any info and hope this topic has not already been beaten to death.

I would say so. At LEAST get a review book.

Absolutely no reason to take one of those courses, you are just graduating from school. All you need is a book.

Any of those courses push cramming, and that is the worst thing that you can do before this exam.

Just my two cents on the topic.

Yeah, its worth it do you have an intern job where they can pay for the class. I took the hurst review.

I agree with suzanne. Our school required we took the review class. I felt it was a waste of time and money. Our director would not send our endorsements until we paid for the class in full. We even had to bring her a receipt showing we had paid for it. Study from books and the CDs that come with them. Good luck to you!!!

That's what i was wondering also. There are some ppl . maybe half of my class that are taking the review over the winter break. They get to sit for free for the review in the spring when we graduate but i can't justify the 400 dollar cost to go.

I'm probably making a good decision and take the advice of suzanne.

How do you feel about it yourself? Do you feel confident enough doing self-review? It's your call .... good luck!

I had taken the Kaplan review course..and to me the class was a waste of time. The questions from the CD were invaluable. I think it helps to just practice a ton of questions, so you have a feel on what type of questions are on the NCLEX. I think a class is only necessary if you want to learn test taking strategies...though the test taking strategies I learned in Kaplan I found I didn't really use on the real NCLEX. Good luck..and this is my 1000th post!!! (sorry to suddenly be off topic) :D

Our test questions in class are NCLEX style (application type) questions. If the 3-400 dollar review class are questions like the ones i study for my regular exams then it sounds to be a waste of money to me.

I took Hurst and I do not feel it was a waste of time or money. I feel it really help me put everything together in one nice, neat package. It was a great review over my last 2 years of NS.

Some of my classmates took a review class for a whopping $800! I declined and have been doing it solely on my own, my own style and feel very confident. I have been studying like crazy and no one will see me for a while since I stay focused, but it will be worth it in the end. I talked to one of my class mates and it seemed as though he learned the same exact stuff I did , and I went to Barnes and Noble hours on end using their books, for FREE! We will see though who passes and who doesnt from my class.. as Im curious if that class was even worth it for them ... no pun intended, just my 2 cents and I think they try to take the money and run so to speak ... knowledge is power, and whatever route, as long as you learn what you need, right?
