NCLEX Review Course

Hi all! I am new to allnurses.com so you may not see a lot from me at first, as I am getting used to it and all...
I am an LPN student and will graduate in Septmeber (hence the name!) and I have a question regarding your experience with the NCLEX exam.

My school has used NCLEX-style questions throughout the entire program. They have been teaching us this test-taking method very thoroughly.

They are offering a free 3-day NCLEX review class after graduation and unfortunately I will be out of town! I am struggling with the decision of whether to cancel my plans and attend the review class.

I kind of feel like, what more can I learn about taking the exam? We have been coached on how to pick the answer even if you don't know it through the process of elimination. We are very familiar with critical thinking, and most of our tests are critical thinking.

For those of you who have taken the exam, maybe you can give me a little insight into this. I appreciate it!

-Stacey

If you've taken practice tests and you have absolutely no doubt that you'll pass, then I would not worry about missing it. However, if you have any doubts or you feel like you haven't really mastered the material, then I would cancel the trip...you'll have plenty of time to go on trips later, it's better to just take the test and do well the first time than mess up because you went on a trip.

Well, it's hard to say I have absolutely no doubt that I will pass. I can't be that sure, you know? I just feel like all along my instructors have been preparing me for the exam.
If you have taken a review class, maybe you can tell me a little bit about what it is like. What kinds of things do they review? Do they go over actual content that might be on the exam? Do they just give practice questions that you go over as a group? Because if so, I already have a study group arranged for NCLEX prep. We are all going to bring our NCLEX books and go over all the questions together.

Thanks for your help!
