NCLEX PN: I don't know what to do anymore

by Jab08

I've taken the Nclex-pn twice already and failed...I started reviewing again for my 3rd try ...I'm doing alot of questions about 100-200 questions a day and scoring myself...my scores are in the 50-60 percentages still!!!...this is so frustrating....why am i scoring so low?...i feel like I can't do this anymore...I am giving up and getting so depressed about this whole NCLEX!!! And to also mention that in nursing school...i struggled, but i made it in the end...I basically just want to know if there is a good Nclex pn book out there that is easy to understand? and any other tips on passing this test...I really wanna pass this next try!!!

It's been so long since I took the nclex so I don't really have any good tips. Maybe you need to get in a review class? Do they have any near where you live? Don't give up! Three times a charm!!!

Maybe you are having test anxiety. I would try a review class as posted above. Good Luck & Do Not give up!

Were you studying from Kaplan when you sat for the exam the first time? I do think that they have great strategies. I would say that if (heaven forbid), that you fail a second time around, then, I would consider a review class. You have to assess what you did the first time; did you study all of the content enough? Did you answer questions and review the rationales; whether you were right or wrong? Did you review areas of weakness? I made sure that I went over areas I had trouble with in school with a fine tooth comb. I would definitely practice at least 150 to 205 questions a day, to make sure that you have the stamina to sit for the maximum amount of questions that can be asked. I wish you better for your next exam!

Are you reading & understanding the rationale behind the questions. I would recommend that you do that with all of the questions. Additionally, while you are answering ?s and can't figure out the answer, instead of just checking a box, look up the content of the question in your review book and take notes. This really helped me a lot. Good luck!

Two words: HURST REVIEW!!! I took this review for the NCLEX-RN and it was amazing. It doesn't matter so much if your taking the PN or RN. I took both and the major difference was delegation/management type stuff. The Hurst review is southern based and I don't know if you will be able to attend one in person and it costs about $350.00 Please check into it. Even if you just get the DVD and study guide. Another great resource is the book "NCLEX for Dummies" It has great test-taking strategies. DON'T GIVE UP! One of the smartest and most competant nurses I ever knew took the NCLEX 4 times! If she had given up, I never would had the joy of working with her. Good Luck!

I think doing Suzanne's plan with Saunder's is a great idea because it helps you to identify your weak areas. Do the first step and from there you will know what areas you need to focus on. I didn't get past the first step but I knew what areas I had to review and I focused on that instead of trying to study everything.
