Someone please help! I just found out i failed Nclex again today. just 30 mins ago. I graduated since 2000,May, this is 7 years, and I am frustrated. I took Nclex PN 2005 and passed. But I went to school to be an RN, and I AM FRUSTRATED, TIRED AND although I was an honor student in school, I suddenly feel so dumb!!!! advice please,please, please.

what kinds of things did you do to prepare? i used the kaplan course and the qbank and qtrainer and i passed. tthe types of questions on the nclex are very very hard, and it is difficult to prepare for it, but i thought that kaplan did a very good job of giving me the content in the beginning and then teaching me how to do well on the quetions...even if i didn't know what the hell they were talking about. let me know what your thoughts are...you'll be an rn before you know it!

Hey, keep you head up! If you work at a hospital, most of the time they had connetions to NCLEX tutors. I know that at the hospital I work for, if you are having a hard time passing the NCLEX, they will hire a tutor to help. But don't just hire anyone, look at their pass and fail rate of their students. Maybe you should look into that. Remember, to keep your head and think positive. I know its hard (because I didn't pass either) but everything happens for a reason!

cuse28, thanks for your advice and encouragement. I used kaplan text with the cd. It could be because I had so much going on in my life, working more than 60 hours a week, my husband and I just opened a new business. So much stuff, but i kinda had hope. I am still hopeful, I'll take out time and study again and try again. Thanks again. God bless.

yeah, there are lots of reasons for what could have happened. it has nothing to do with your capabilities as a nurse whatsoever. i'm sure you're an excellent nurse. my last piece of advice would be to study the content you know you're weak on first and then move onto answering as many questions/ day as you possibly can. if you feel like you're guessing on something or you got something wrong then go back and restudy that material. it will stick eventually. DO NOT kill yourself over studying tons and tons of medications. there are too many of them and chances are they're going to give you random ones anyways, so, just know the really important ones and any others that you remember is great. one book that did help me a lot with understanding certain content (like endocrine, etc.) was the incredibly easy nclex rn book with 3500 questions in it. i would pick out a chapter on something i didn't understand or was getting a lot of questions wrong on and i would do that chapter. it has all the explanations and everything. other than that, just do questions (like those from kaplan, or i heard lipponcott was good). you will do great the next time around. good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about how things have gone!

Do you forsee being able to clear your schedule at all in the near future? Keep checking in here - we're a family and there's a ton of great advice from people like cuse28 and others that will help see you through.

I personally benefitted from using a few different books. I took the Drexel course, but I didn't just want to take Drexel-authored questions because I was paranoid that their techniques might only work on their material. That's just me being paranoid, though, and no knock against them at all. Variety seems to help, though. Lippincott gives you the lengthier stems, Saunders gives you a good review for each chapter and even better questions. The Mosby cards are great for when you're on-the-go.
