NCLEX: Do Not Be Discouraged!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hi All!!!

I wanted to come on here and share my nclex story now that I have had a nice long 2 week vacation!!!:D

So I have to admit that I didn't spend as much time studying as I now wish I would have! I began studying back in June after I graduated from my ADN program. I started off with Hurst & Saunder's Q&A. I work full time so it became clear studying was not going to be easy. In the beginning, when I got home from work I tried to at least do 3-4 tutorials from Hurst and 100 Q&As. Toward mid June I began to really just relax & not do what I needed to!!! My studying had become not existant! I had started hearing from other classmates that they were passing at the 75 ? mark & I began to feel confident that I too would be one of these! A week before my test date I did the whole cram thing that seemed to work well in school! I began using many different materials with no real schedule on studying them!

On the day of the test I woke up super early to be LA traffic and grabbed a cup of coffee. I did not bring any snacks or anything to drink. I pretty much had the intention of leaving the facility within an hour and passing at 75 questions!!! So I got checked in, was seated at the computer by my proctor and began the ever so dreaded NCLEX! I was cruisin thru the exam and finally got to question 75!!!! I was so excited to be done and then I clicked the next button and it went on to question 76!!! I immediately started crying right there in the booth! I pulled myslef together and the test kept going. In fact it didnt stop until I hit 234. THAT'S RIGHT 234!!!!!! Needless to say I walked out of the test and was crying my eyes out. Called my mom & yes I told her I think I failed! :crying2: I got home an hour later & did Pearson Vue Trick & I got the good pop up!!!!!! My anxiety was a little more at ease but I still wasnt sure if it was true. I waited the weekend & by Monday my name had still NOT been posted on the BRN! I began to panic!!! waited another day.... still no name. I finally called the BRN & they let me know that they have not entered my transcripts!!!!!!!! I asked to be transferred to the Evaluator's desk and she immediately put my transcipts in! Next day I see my name on the BRN!!!!:heartbeat I am so proud and excited to say i am officially a RN!!!!:yeah:

Sorry for such a long post but I really wanted to share with everyone my experience and want to tell those that did not stop at 75 to not be discouraged because it doesnt alway mean its the end!!! Congrats to all of you who have passed and good luck to all who are getting ready to take it! :D
