NCLEX Anxiety

I just got my ATT today and I can sign up for a time in the 3rd week of June or on the 27th of June. I haven't really studied much since I graduated 4-29-06 (planning a wedding for Sept 23rd 2006). So I took time to relax after graduating and have been getting wedding stuff out of the way....now I need to hunker down and study but I'm debating when to take the NCLEX either try and study hard core (which doesn't always happen because of life's little extras) or take more time and test at the end of June (plus in my home town about an hour away). I getting the important wedding stuff out of the way by this monday so I can study. But I still freaking out.....have always had test anxiety but I'm even anxious now because I got my ATT today!! I think I've lost my motivation to study with fear rolled into one. Also, someone told me a friend of their's had to get hypnotized to take the test because her test anxiety was so bad anyone heard of this or have any advice about when I should take the test, how long to study? or hypnotists (hehe)? I did take the hursts review the first week of May but haven't done much studying since then. Any help would be great!!!
Thanks
Michelle

If you haven't studied much yet, I would delay taking the exam. Especially if you are concerned about it. If you did feel even a littel bit confident, you would not be asking. Right?

I too would delay the test if you have not studied yet.I am sure there are alot of review course available to you,but try getting some on audio when your on the go you could listen ,i found that helpful. Most importantly DO NOT PANIC.YOU CAN DO IT. All the best.

Thanks for the advice, I've talked to family and friends and they think I should take it earlier but I don't think they understand the full extent to how hard this test really is. The hurst review helped a lot but I need to go over that material a lot more. Taking the test later I think would be good but I have to drive an hour away, which is my home town but my fiance said what if you forget something (such as identification) then I wouldn't be able to test! Then I would definitely freak out! I also have the Saunders NCLEX review book so hopefully this will help.

Well I went ahead and signed up for June 27th instead of an earlier date. I just hope me test anxiety doesn't get the best of me! My family still thinks I should take it earlier but with my anxiety and everything I still think it's best for me to take it later

I'm right there with ya girl... got my ATT today and I signed up for the 26th (I was surprised at how many appointment slots were unavailable anywhere in my region so I couldn't have done it many other dates anyway (none of my centers are closer than 1.5 hours away).

I am finding it hard to get in much study time with the kids out of school!

I'm doing a Kaplan review the week before NCLEX (my hospital reimburses for it). I had a different one right after graduation that I felt was mediocre (I didn't have to pay for it thank goodness). Anyway, good luck!

Getting through nursing school is one thing, getting through with kids (especially more than 1) is another . I don't know how people with kids do it! There was a couple in my nursing class as well. I admire you! And yes there wasn't very many dates available...oh well. I would have liked to take it earlier so I can have more job opportunities (need a job with all this wedding expenses) but I rather study more and prepare myself even if I have to eat just bread and jelly! Happy Studying to all....especially to the people with little ones!

I recieved my ATT around the 26th of May and I set my date up for the 26th of June. I am taking the nclex pn and I wanted time to refresh my mind of some of the things I learned in school. People around me say I should take it earlier, but I did not feel comfortable with that. Plus when I scheduled my exam, my heart was palpatating and I felt nauseous. I have never felt like that for an exam before so it was kinda strange. Anyways I am also using saunders and I am glad that I waited!

The best of luck to everyone taking the exam, may God be with us!!!!
