My nclex pn study plan, whats yours?

Students NCLEX

Ok, so everyone has different methods of studying and also using different resources, I just wanted to give a brief statement of what I'm currently doing and I would love to hear how your studing or if your took the exam what you think of my plan:

Saunders green book: using this book for content, and I love it, love the way it's broken down and gives simple explanations, I try to do between 2-3 chapters a day Monday-Friday

Saunders CD: after I've read and understood the chapters I do practice questions on what I've read about 50 questions

Kaplan q bank: whew these questions are HARD but according to them, all the questions in the bank are above passing questions and they want you score to be around 60% , i do about 50 questions and they are all mixed up which is good

Pn 3000 (free) found that while browsing on allnurses and it's wonderful!!! Love the rationales I do about 50 of these also

So all in all I try to do At least 100 questions a day, reading mon-Friday and on the weekend I just do questions, I think the information soaks in more when you let your brain catch a little break

So how are u studying?

Did you take your exam already?I decided to go back to my school books and try to figure out what I missed.I felt so rushed in school that I truely didnt understand half of what was going on.Im doing questions on Saunders the green book its great but I think the Saunders questions are a little easier than what was on the N CLEX exam.Im trying to figure my study plan out as well right now Im all over the place and trying to read these books word from word is very time consuming so I cant keep doing that

I used all of the resources that you used with a very similar schedule and I passed on the first try. Sounds like you have a great plan!

One thing I did that you didn't mention was to study with a friend a couple of times per week. It was really helpful to have someone to discuss the questions with. Also, my friend had a Mosby book and I had Saunders so we practiced questions from each. We always made sure to have a glass of wine and some good food too toward the end of our study session in order to relax a little.

Tried looking for the link. Must have gotten the wrong one because the link doesn't work.

Is Kaplan Q bank a book?

Why does everyone use the green Saunders book? Is it supposed to be better? I have the newest one which is red.

No, the Kaplan q bank is a program that you have to buy from the Kaplan website, but Kaplan does have a very good strategies and review book that I have and will read, it helps you to breakdown questions and how to answer them even if you don't know what's being asked, as far as the book goes, I'm sure it's the same information I actually was given the green book I like the red one better tho because it's in color

Did all of what you suggested plus ATI questions. ATI was a part of our program. I passed on the first try with 77 questions. One of our instructor's gave us tips for test day. I ate a good breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, oj (brain boosters and my stomach wasn't growling to distract me). I also drove to the test site and allowed time for traffic and such. I couldn't even bear to look at a book the day before and it was recommended not to (I was already on burnout over questions, LOL). I brought the ATT and the list of do's and don'ts. I think my eyes were crossed a little when I left:D. I also thought it would be harder than what it was and believe me my heart was still pounding even after I tried the PVT and thought it could be true. Anyway sorry for rambling. Good luck to you on test day

Thanks! And congrats on passing your test! I'm also going to do the ATI predictor test in a couple weeks my school allows us to come back and they order it for us, do U think the ATI was harder than nclex?

Im using my:

(1) Green Saunders book. I absolutely love this book, gives more than enough information etc. I love the cd as far as medications other than that the questions are too easy but I still study from it.

(2) Exam Cram (both books), I love the practice questions

(3) Nclex Pn 3000 heres the link: http://nclex.wiregrass.edu/nclexpn3000/mainMenu.do;jsessionid=E10CE6DEEFDCCEDF2206E995BA7D6228

(4) Atitesting.com/Atitutor.com. I loveee ATI

I thought so. Because the way the nclex tests. When I did the predictor test I actually didn't score very high. So when I took the Nclex I thought I failed and was checking the BON every day. Good luck on your test date.
