My NCLEX journey

by MAR07

I graduated in December and I registered to take the NCLEX on Jan. 3rd 2008. The test run 265 questions and it was the longest 5 hours of my life. After 2 VERY LONG days of waiting, I found out that I failed. I was devastated and it took me about 3-4 weeks to even pick a book back up. I took the Hurst review the week after I graduated and that was all I studied for 3 weeks. Now on to the next part- After the 3-4 weeks of doing nothing I decided to go out and purchase the Saunders NCLEX review book. I read it cover to cover did all the questions in the book but did very little questions on the CD. I decided it was time to schedule the BIG BAD test again. I scheduled it for Apr. 17th. that would give me 2 weeks to go over anything I wanted to so what did I do? I pulled out the old Hurst review book and read it cover to cover ( this is fairly short and only took about 2 days) and had my wife call the questions out to me from the book. NCLEX TEST DAY Apr. 17th. I get up eat breakfast and start the 45 min. trip to the testing facility. To no suprise to me the test went 265 questions again (12-15 sata, 3-5 math, tons of priority) and I'm 99.9% sure I missed the last question so I knew I had failed it and started thinking about what I was going to do. Our state puts your name up on the BON website within 48 hours so I looked on Sat. morning and it wasn't on there. I was torn completely apart but I didn't give up. I said that I wasn't going to pay the $7.95 for the quick results on the Pearson website but I just needed a piece of mind so last night Mon Apr. 21 I did and it said PASS!!!!!!!!!!!! and woke up this morning and my name was on the site!!!!!! So I want EVERYONE to know DO NOT give up even if you get the last question wrong and have 265 q's there's still hope. So today I'm getting my resume together and applying for jobs. THANKS allnurses you all are an inspiration!

I will drop a prayer for you. That was the longest 5 days of my life considering it's only supposed to take 48 hours and everyone in my class got theirs in 48 hours I knew for certain I failed but they must have had a problem at the BON or something to delay the process.
