Medications on NCLEX 2014

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I'm scheduled to sit for the NCLEX the end of May. Recently went through a live review of ATI and the professor mentioned that the NCLEX was changed to only providing the trade name for the medication instead of both the generic and trade names. Has anyone recently taken the NCLEX and seen this pattern? Thanks!

I have also heard something similar to this but that they only provide the generic name

Thats true.. i took last week of may...

Some friends of mine who just took it said definitely only the generic name, not the brand name, on the test!!!

I am not sure where you are but in Ohio they use both names on the nclex. I ask a few of my friends whom took it last week. They all said that both names where there when ask about a drug question.

Took it last thursday.. Its has both generic and brand name..

I took it today and some medications had both names, others had just one name.

I took it 5/13 and it had both names on it. I'm in AL.

I took it at the end of February and only had generic names. It through me off a bit, but I had literally 4 med questions. So it wasn't a big deal.

Took mine and already got licensed the next day. My test started off with BOTH names, then half way thru it only provided one.

The better ur doing, the more advanced the questions become and that is why, theoretically speaking, the trade names disappear later in the test. As is my theory.

The new test plan will have the generic and the trade name -OR- just the generic. What you will never see is just the trade name.

Thanks for all the input! :)
