KAPLAN Scores! HELP Nclex-RN

Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys! I graduated nursing in the Philippines March 2014 and I took my local board exam there and passed May 2014.

(In the Philippines we would have class everyday, full of content reviews and some days all we would do is sit down and take hundreds and hundreds of practice questions.)

I took a break before studying for nclex, I did my requirements so I can apply for nclex in the state of Nevada. The CGFNS and TOEFL. I took and passed my toefl even though i grew up in california just to comply with requirements. After passing my application to Nevada, i got my ATT in 10 days. I was in shock! So i scheduled my NCLEX Exam on the first week of May. I decided not change the date, even though i have until the end of May to take my nclex.

So, I enrolled in Kaplan. I attended the live session.

Here are my scores (SO FAR):

Diagnostic Test: 56%

(After seeing my diagnostic score i was a bit discouraged, so i read kaplan content and listened to kaplan content videos)

Question Trainer 1A: 63%

Question Trainer 2A: 69%

Question Trainer 3A: 62%

Readiness: 58%

(Our kaplan instructor told us to take readiness test towards the end of class, i did not finish the whole thing I was so tired and was falling asleep on it. Never take this unless your well rested)

Question Trainer 4A: 60%

Question Trainer 5A: 69%

Question Trainer 5B: 88%

Question Trainer 6B:

Question Trainer 7B:

I havent taken my Question Trainer 6 & 7 since my Kaplan instructor told us it most resembled the NCLEX exam, to take them last. I'll be taking it next week. Hoping to get 65% or above.

I take about two sets of 75 Questions daily until I used up all the questions in the bank. My Qbank average is 60.42%

QBank Sample 1: 68%

QBank Sample 2: 56%

QBank Sample 3: 70%

QBank Sample 4: 20%

I would say my major weakness is OB, SATA's, Drag & Drops, & Pharma, but sometimes the questions are just so difficult it makes me scratch my head. Although, I still plan on taking on more Qbanks (incorrect only) and retaking my Qbank Sample 4 so that i can master my SATA's

I would love to hear from you and your thoughts and suggestions for more improvement. Ive only been seriously studying for about 1 month and a half. My anxiety is increasing after reading so many posts here on allnurses.

P.S. I love this website

Specializes in Critical Care.

I think you should be fine with those scores.

i got a 57% on my diagnostic, and like a 51% on the readiness, 52% on question trainer 7. I actually just did not listen to the Kaplan instructor and did q trainer 7 a day after I completed qtrainer 6. Then afterwards, I focused on doing the qbank.

I made sure to read all the rationales after and understand why I got a question right or wrong.

I only used Kaplan questions (no content videos) and the session videos 1-7, where the lady goes over the questions and breaks it down. That is all I did and passed the NCLEX in 75q two weeks ago.

I felt that Kaplan prepared me very well, and quite honestly, I focused more on understanding the rationales on Kaplan than focusing on getting a high score.

I studied for 2 months with lots of review materials. I read Saunders, Kaplan book, Lippincott Alternate format questions book and PDA by LaCharity from cover to cover. I attended Hurst live review and did all their 6 practice questions. I also answered ALL practice exams in Saunders CD. Answered all the practice questions about body systems in NCLEX 3500. All in all, I did 6,633 practice questions. Passed on my first try. Based on your Kaplan's practice exam scores, I can see that you are doing great. If you need any help, you can message me or anyone here. Good luck kabayan! :)

Hi. I'll post my scores for you. A little background- I graduated from nursing school in Dec '14. After that, I just relaxed and had fun after a stressful 4.5 years. I took about 4 vacations and worked and had fun. It took a while for me to get my ATT and actually sign up for NCLEX because of a few issues, but I absolutely did not use that time to study - maybe a little bit here and there. When I finally got my ATT, I signed up to take NCLEX on 4/23. I only studied for maybe 10-14 days before then and thats when I started Kaplan and I did a few questions on NCLEX mastery on my phone.

QT1 - 41.3

QT2 - 49.3

QT3 - 50

QT4 - 52.7

QT5 - 58.7

QT6 - 57

(Didn't have time to take Q7)

Readiness - 58.9

Qbank average - 57 (approx)

Soooo.. as you can see my scores were not high at all. In fact, they are awful. But I did pass with 265 questions.

In conclusion, I think you'll be just fine. Just keep studying and don't focus on the scores you are getting, but on the actual content and rationales. In my opinion, the rationales that Kaplan offers were not up to par, so I had to do a little bit of my own research to help me out.

Good Luck! You can do this!
