Kaplan Qbank: Worth it?

  1. Greetings,

Is the Kaplan Qbank worth $300 if someone is looking for additional questions to be reviewed over a 2.5 week period. I have exhausted Saunders, Mosby's and NCBSN questions. In fact, I think that I may have simply memorized many answers at this point. Just looking for some additional online practice questions. Thanks.

ABSOLUTELY YES!!! I was hesitant to pay the insane amount of money. I refused to. Fresh after graduation I bought 2 NCLEX review books and studied and did questions for 2 months. THEN, my friend (that had previously failed nclex w/out kaplan and then bought kaplan and PASSED) passed the NCLEX and gave me her kaplan materials. OMG, what a difference. I only had a chance to look kaplan over 2 weeks before my test (I TAKE MY TEST TODAY AAAA can you tell I am freaked out, lol) and it has helped me tremendously I went from passing in the 48% to a 93% yesterday. You must do it. It teaches you very valuable ways to deduce answers as well as focuses on target material.

I will let you know what happens to me!

    Good Luck!

Oh, best of luck to you!!! I will check back in with you tomorrow and see how are feel about the test. Try some positive visualization techniques to try to calm your nerves. Better yet, go online and search for the movie "The Secret" free and watch it. It may help you to feel better (concentrate on your desired outcome).

As far as Kaplan Qbank, I am considering buying the questions only--not the entire review course. Do you know if the Qbank teaches you those test taking strategies as well or simply presents you with the questions?

How to get Kaplan q bank online?

Like many I was skeptical about the cost of Kaplan and whether it was worth it. I didn't wanna risk failing again though and going longer at a lower pay rate so I bit the bullet and did Kaplan. It was well worth it. I passed with 75 questions and am now back to making money. Kaplan was awesome.

I have the Saunders book & CD, access to the NCSBN website that my school purchased for me, and the Kaplan on-line course that I purchased myself.

I feel that the difficulty of the Saunders questions is not at the appropriate level (too easy). The Kaplan questions are by far the most difficult--even more difficult than the NCSBN questions. I think Kaplan does that intentionally to ensure their high pass rate.

the qbank is great--but it doesn't by itself really teach the Kaplan matrix of how to answer questions. On the other hand, following the matrix has caused me to answer questions incorrectly by allowing me to rationalize my way into a wrong answer. Sometimes you have to go with your gut.

The other thing is, why risk a failure in order to save $300? I know if you've just graduated and have no income, money is tight, but it's cheap insurance, I think. In my state, you have to wait 3 months before taking the NCLEX again. That's 3 months of lost income.

Hey all - I took my boards for the RN license on Thursday july 17th and I am pretty sure I failed them. So now I am thinking about taking Kaplan. Can someone give me an honest answer as to which Kaplan product I should buy? I don't want to make it habit of taking the boards over and over again. i have a job waiting for me and i would like to start making money and moving out of my parent's house. Thanks for the advice.

Don't rush to buy anything, normal to come away from exam and feel as if you failed. Wait for your results. Good luck

You can also get access to it if you take their review course.

I took the Kaplan Review that was offered in at a Kaplan office in Houston, Tx. The course was a 3 day review (costing about $300) that not only reviewed the material but more review test taking, and hints. I believe this course was WELL worth the money and time spent!
