Kaplan NCLEX-How long should I study before taking NCLEX

How long after taking the Kaplan course should I take the NCLEX-RN. I will take the Kaplan course in April. The course is 2 weeks. How long should I study the Q-banks and text information from Kaplan before I schedule the NCLEX-RN.

It took me a month including the kaplan classes, but I studied everyday and allowed myself only one day to party like a rockstar! And I did ALL the Qbank questions and studied all the rationales. It really depends though on when you think you'll be able to finish all those questions and tests. I really rushed it(although I love pressure and I love the adrenaline rush I get when I have to make a deadline) And I made myself take it within a month because I was pregnant and was going to pop anytime and I really wanted to take the test before I had the baby. Luckily I passed my first time. I say give it two months after your NCLEX if your not finished with all those questions or if you are finished earlier, you can always try and change the date. Good luck!

It really depends on you. I spent probably 10 days, about 2-3 hours a day using Saunders 3rd edition and the Adult Med/Surg and Pharmacology ATI books.

I didn't use any review service. I don't need to pay someone to teach me test taking strategy when I can read about it in the Saunders book.

Scheduling your test will force you to study.

A few of my classmates have gone up to 265 questions and passed. Some have done 75 questions and failed. I went up to 132. Don't bother asking classmates what was on their test since each test is so different. I guarantee you will feel horrible after taking the test feeling like you failed.

Good luck!

Does anybody have any tips for me on taking the NCLEX Exam? I'm getting ready to take it on Friday March 27th 2009. Anything would help.
Thanks

it makes sense that when once has a schedule already he will be forced to study because you have a deadline to meet.

Set a test date from one to three months out and then make a schedule and follow it. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales for both right and wrong answers. Only you know what your knowledge base is at this point, so you can determine whether one month or three are needed. Good luck.
